Diablo 4 Season 8

INTRODUCTION

Diablo 4 Season 8: Belial’s Return is set to launch at 10:00 AM PST on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, immediately following the end of Season of Witchcraft. This new season will bring exciting new content, including new bosses, features, and mechanics. Let’s take a deeper dive into everything Season 8 has to offer and what you need to know to get started in Diablo 4’s newest season.

Diablo 4 Season 8 Features

New Lair Bosses: Urivar, Harbinger of Hatred, and Belial

Season 8 introduces three brand new endgame bosses for players to conquer:

  • Urivar: This knight, previously introduced in Season 6’s Vessel of Hatred Campaign, will join the ranks of the lower-difficulty Lair Bosses, alongside Varshan, Beast in the Ice, and Lord Zir.

  • Harbinger of Hatred: Also introduced in the Vessel of Hatred Campaign, the Harbinger of Hatred is a powerful boss comparable in difficulty to Duriel and Andariel.

  • Belial: The infamous Lord of Lies, previously seen in Diablo 3, makes his return as the highest-difficulty Lair Boss in Diablo 4. Belial will challenge even the most seasoned players with his devastating mechanics.

In addition to Belial as an independent Lair Boss, a lesser form of Belial may spawn after defeating other Lair Bosses and Apparition Incursion Bosses.

Boss Changes in Season 8

Along with the new bosses, Season 8 will bring changes to existing Lair Boss mechanics, increasing the difficulty of encounters across the board. Here’s a summary of the new mechanics:

  • No Summoning Materials: Boss fights no longer require summoning materials. Instead, players will use Lair Keys specific to each boss to open their loot chest or Hoard. Each player must possess their own Lair Key to receive loot.

  • Lair Key Requirements:

    • Initiate Bosses: 12 Lair Keys (e.g., Beast in the Ice, Grigoire, Lord Zir, Varshan)

    • Greater Lair Bosses: 3 Lair Keys (e.g., Andariel, Duriel, Harbinger of Hatred)

    • Exalted Lair Bosses: 2 Lair Keys (e.g., Belial)

The number of Lair Keys required to access a boss’s Hoard remains the same across all Torment levels, from Torment 1 to Torment 4.

Boss Powers in Diablo 4 Season 8

A new mechanic called Boss Powers will be introduced in Season 8, functioning similarly to Witch Powers from Season 7. After defeating bosses, players can absorb their powers, granting them unique bonuses that enhance their character’s abilities.

  • There are a total of 24 Boss Powers, including:

    • 10 Magic Powers

    • 9 Rare Powers

    • 5 Legendary Powers

Players can equip one Main Boss Power and three Modifiers. Each Boss Power can serve either as a Main Power or a Modifier, offering exciting customization options.

Apparition Incursions: A New Open-World Event

In Season 8, Apparition Incursions will be a new type of open-world event, featuring multiple bosses that players must defeat in order to earn Boss Powers.

  • There are 10 bosses in total that spawn throughout Sanctuary.

  • These events are designed to be less intense than World Bosses but still rewarding, offering valuable loot and a chance to acquire Boss Powers.

  • Apparition Incursions will spawn frequently and are an excellent way to level up and earn rewards.

Season Transition: What Happens at the End of Season 7

As is the tradition in Diablo 4, Season 8 will begin immediately after Season 7 ends. All characters from Season 7 will be moved to the Eternal Realm, where they will no longer be eligible for the benefits of the new season. Players who wish to experience Season 8 will need to create a new character.

  • Season 7 Items: Players’ items will be transferred to a Withdraw-Only Stash tab in the Eternal Realm Stash. Any items not retrieved before the end of Season 8 will be unrecoverable.

Diablo 4 Season 8 Belial’s Return – New Story and Questline

Along with new gameplay mechanics, Season 8 will introduce a new story and questline, focusing on Belial’s return and his continued influence in the world of Sanctuary. Players will encounter new narrative-driven content, adding depth to the game’s world while exploring the darker side of Belial’s deceit and lies.

Season Journey, Blessings, and Battle Pass

Season 8 will also feature a Season Journey, offering players a structured path of progression and challenges, as well as Season Blessings that can grant temporary buffs throughout the season. Additionally, the Battle Pass will provide a variety of cosmetic rewards as players progress through the season.
