Crafting and Gathering Profession Mechanics in The War Within
As you level up and use Professions in World of Warcraft, you’ll encounter several new mechanics that add depth to Crafting and Gathering. These include Specializations, Work Orders, Secondary Stats, Item Quality, and more. These mechanics transform Professions from a simple task into a complex system with multiple layers.
Crafting and Gathering Profession Specializations
Profession Specializations are a secondary leveling mechanic that allows players to refine their Professions beyond basic skill levels. By earning Knowledge Points, players can deepen their expertise in various aspects of their Professions, enhancing their skills, Secondary Stats, and unlocking new recipes.
Unlike previous versions where Specializations were narrow and restrictive, you can now complete all available Specializations within a Profession. Knowledge Points can be earned through various means, such as discovering ancient books, fulfilling specialized Work Orders from NPC Patrons, or finding unique consumables in the resources you gather.
Profession Specializations allow you to stand out from other players and enable guild members to specialize in different areas, adding more value to your community.
For detailed information on Specializations for each Profession, check the Profession Overviews that describe the unique Specializations available for Crafting and Gathering Professions.
Profession Knowledge Points
Knowledge Points are essential for unlocking and advancing Profession Specializations. To specialize, you need to allocate Knowledge Points to your chosen specialization tree. You can earn Knowledge Points through Patron (NPC) crafting orders, discovering Knowledge Point treasures, and using First Craft bonuses.
Remember, Knowledge Points are permanent once allocated. You cannot change them after saving, so choose your Specializations wisely.
World and Zone Events in Khaz Algar for The War Within
World Events in The War Within
World Events in Khaz Algar offer players a variety of activities throughout the week. These events are interactive and often require collaboration with other players. They provide valuable rewards such as Valorstones and Carved Crests, and they are crucial for earning reputation with Renown factions in Khaz Algar.
Participating in and completing these World Events contributes to your progress in the Great Vault. At the start of each week, you’ll receive items equivalent in level to Tier 1 Delve gear from the World section of the Great Vault. Additionally, the weekly chests you earn from World Events provide extra rewards based on the number of chests you open:
- Opening the first two chests from weekly activities (including World Events and Special Assignments) grants a piece of Gear.
- Opening the first four chests from these activities also rewards you with a Restored Coffer Key, which is used to unlock Bounty chests in Bountiful Delves.
About Delves in The War Within
Delves are short, instanced scenarios in The War Within designed for solo play or groups of 2-5 players, typically lasting between 10-20 minutes. When playing in parties of 1-4, you’ll be accompanied by a seasonal NPC companion who can be set as either Combat or Healer based on your needs. This allows any class or spec to participate in Delves in any role. You can also equip your Companion with Combat and Utility trinkets to tailor their abilities. Companions level up with each Delve completed, providing benefits not only to you but also to your Warband, as Companion Experience is shared. Full parties of 5 do not include the NPC companion.
Each Delve has its own scenario and story. While the maps are static, the themes, hazards, and mob compositions vary from week to week. Expect different hazards, objectives, and random bonuses in each run. Delves feature an end boss, though this boss may not always appear in the weekly configuration.
Players are introduced to Delves early in the campaign through a quest that takes them to the first Delve, Earthcrawl Mines on the Isle of Dorn. This quest also introduces you to your NPC companion and the basic tools needed for Delves.
Delves follow a Seasonal format similar to other PvE content in The War Within. Before Season 1 launches, Tiers 1-3 will be available. Each Delve has its own story variations detailed in the Delve Overviews section.
How to Unlock Delve Tiers
When you first enter a Delve, you’ll start at Tier 1, with higher tiers locked until you reach level 80. Once you hit level 80, complete the campaign, and equip at least 548 gear in every slot, you’ll unlock the achievement “War Within Delves: Endgame,” granting access to Tier 4 Delves. Progressing through Delve tiers opens subsequent tiers (e.g., completing Tier 4 unlocks Tier 5), up to the maximum of Tier 11.
In party play, the highest Delve tier accessible is determined by the lowest tier completed by any party member. For example, if two players are ready for Tier 8 and one for Tier 6, the party can only tackle Tier 6.
Completing a Tier in any Delve opens that tier for all Delves, both for you and your Warband. The Delve screen allows you to select the tier and view its level, overall hazards, and rewards.
The War Within Main Renown Factions
As in Dragonflight, the Renown setup continues. The Main Factions that you’ll want to get Renown with in The War Within are:
- Council of Dornogal
- Hallowfall Arathi
- Assembly of the Deeps
- The Severed Threads
We’ll go over them in short below.
Council of Dornogal in the War Within
The first Renown faction players will encounter in The War Within, the Council of Dornogal is the main branch of the earthen that live on the Isle of Dorn. This council governs all of the earthen, including earthen player characters.
The Council of Dornogal’s home base is the Foundation Hall in the earthen capital of Dornogal on the Isle of Dorn. This is where all the main quests and Renown reward NPCs are located.
Assembly of the Deeps in the War Within
The Assembly of the Deeps is the second Renown faction players will encounter in The War Within. The Assembly of the Deeps is an alliance of the Machine Speakers assigned to keep the machinery of the Ringing Deeps functioning with friendly kobolds in the area. These kobolds no longer wish to remain under the tyranny of the Kobold King, who only wants more and more wax.
The Assembly of the Deeps makes their home base at the city of Gundargaz in the Ringing Deeps. This is where all the main quests and Renown reward NPCs are located.
Hallowfall Arathi in the War Within
The Hallowfall Arathi is the third Renown faction players will encounter in The War Within. Separated from the Arathi Empire, the Hallowfall Expedition made a new home underground in Khaz Algar, where they protect Beledar, the light crystal that overlooks the zone.
The Hallowfall Arathi makes their home base at the city of Mereldar in Hallowfall. This is where all the main quests and Renown reward NPCs are located.
Severed Threads in The War Within
The Severed Threads is the fourth Renown faction introduced in The War Within. This faction consists of key figures from the nerubian Kaheti empire who oppose Queen Ansurek’s rule and are actively working to undermine her authority from within.
Reputation System
Unlike other Renown factions in The War Within, the Severed Threads operate with a unique system. Instead of directly earning reputation with the Severed Threads as a whole, players accumulate reputation with each of the faction’s three leaders. Your reputation gains in Azj-Kahet are allocated to one of these leaders, not to the Severed Threads faction directly.
Each leader has their own ranks of reputation, and advancing through these ranks provides various benefits. Earning a reputation rank with any of the Severed Threads leaders automatically contributes 1 Renown to the Severed Threads faction.
The Three Leaders of the Severed Threads
- The General: Anub’azal, once the most esteemed military leader of Azj-Kahet, has been sidelined in favor of one of Queen Ansurek’s favored Ascended. His discontent fuels his efforts to reclaim his status and oppose the current regime.
- The Vizier: Executor Nizrek, who serves as Queen Ansurek’s most trusted advisor, is secretly working to end her rule. His dual role makes him a pivotal figure in the faction’s covert operations.
- The Weaver: Widow Arak’nai, the former Royal Weaver, now observes Azj-Kahet with a discerning eye from her base. With her network of weave-rats and spies, she remains well-informed about the kingdom’s happenings.
Currency and Vendors
To purchase items from Severed Threads vendors, as well as from other vendors in Azj-Kahet, players need a separate currency called Kej. Kej is earned by completing activities throughout Azj-Kahet.
Faction Headquarters
The Severed Threads are headquartered in the Weaver’s Lair, located in Azj-Kahet. This is where players can access main quests and interact with NPCs who offer Renown rewards.
