ToggleINTRODUCTION
As World of Warcraft players continue progressing through World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 1, Blizzard has quietly introduced one of the most important long-term progression systems for endgame gearing—the Ascendant Nilhammer.
With weekly reset approaching, players who are actively raiding, completing Mythic+, or pushing Delves now have an opportunity to get ahead of the curve by reaching 3/3 Weave Hungering Oblivium progress before the next reset. This small bit of preparation can save valuable time and help unlock one of Midnight’s strongest item upgrade systems as early as possible.
If you’re serious about maximizing your character’s power—or gearing multiple alts—this is something you absolutely do not want to miss.
WHAT IS THE ASCENDANT NILHAMMER?
The Ascendant Nilhammer is the next major upgrade within Midnight’s Voidforge progression system.
After initially constructing the Voidforge, players gain access to additional endgame gear upgrades through the Nilhammer. This powerful forge allows you to further enhance fully upgraded:
- Hero Track weapons
- Hero Track trinkets
- Myth Track weapons
- Myth Track trinkets
- High-end crafted gear
Most importantly, Myth track gear can be upgraded all the way to Item Level 298, making the Ascendant Nilhammer one of the strongest player power systems currently available in Midnight Season 1.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ASCENDANT NILHAMMER
Unlocking the Ascendant Nilhammer is not instant. Instead, it requires completing a four-week quest chain.
The process begins with:
“New Tools, New Heights”
This quest is offered by Decimus, who introduces players to the power source behind the Nilhammer.
To complete the full unlock, Decimus requires:
4 Weave Hungering Oblivium
Each Weave Hungering Oblivium requires:
3 Hungering Oblivium
That means players must collect:
12 Hungering Oblivium total
before the Ascendant Nilhammer is fully constructed.
HOW TO FARM HUNGERING OBLIVIUM
Hungering Oblivium can currently drop from three types of Season 1 endgame content:
1. Midnight Raids
Players can earn Hungering Oblivium by defeating bosses in any of Midnight’s three raids:
- The Voidspire
- The Dreamrift
- March on Quel’Danas
These raids are already part of most players’ weekly schedules, making them a natural source for progress.
2. Bountiful Delves
Opening Bountiful Coffers inside Delves also provides a chance at Hungering Oblivium.
This makes Delves even more valuable for casual and solo players.
3. Mythic+ Dungeons
Completing a Mythic+ dungeon and looting the end chest can also reward Hungering Oblivium.
Players already pushing keys for Great Vault rewards can efficiently progress both systems at once.
WHY 3/3 BEFORE RESET MATTERS
At the time of this update, we are now in Week 3 of Patch 12.0.5.
That means players can currently reach:
3 out of 3 Weave Hungering Oblivium
before the next weekly reset.
If you miss this opportunity, you effectively delay your Ascendant Nilhammer progression by another week.
For competitive players, Mythic raiders, key pushers, and alt enthusiasts, that’s a significant loss in potential power progression.
WHERE TO TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Players can monitor their Nilhammer progression by visiting the Nascent Nilhammer located in Voidstorm.
Location:
/way #2405 51.3 68.6
Progress toward the Nilhammer is:
- Warband-wide
- Shared across all characters
- Permanently unlocked once completed
This means once one character finishes the Nilhammer, every alt on your account gains access to its upgrades.
WHY YOU SHOULD PRIORITIZE THIS SYSTEM
Many players are already running:
- Weekly raids
- Delves
- Mythic+ dungeons
- Great Vault activities
Since Hungering Oblivium drops naturally from these activities, there is no extra grind required—only awareness and planning.
Completing the Ascendant Nilhammer early gives you:
Higher Item Levels
Upgrade Hero, Myth, and crafted gear even further.
Stronger Alt Progression
Because the system is warband-wide, every alt benefits.
Faster Seasonal Progression
Staying ahead now saves countless hours later.
Better Raid and Mythic+ Performance
Extra item levels can be the difference between a kill and a wipe in progression content.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The Ascendant Nilhammer may not look flashy at first glance, but it could become one of the most impactful progression systems in World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 1. With only 12 Hungering Oblivium needed across four weeks, and multiple ways to farm them through content most players are already doing, there’s little reason to fall behind.
If you haven’t started your Nilhammer progress yet, now is the perfect time. Get your 3/3 progress before reset, stay ahead of the curve, and prepare your Warband for the next stage of Midnight endgame progression.
