Season of Discovery Phase 7: Everything You Need to Know!

INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone and welcome to another InstantCarry blog post. This time around we’ll be talking about SoD Phase 7 and what we can expect from it, there are many new things and still much that is to be discovered. Season of Discovery Phase 7 is bringing an array of exciting new content to World of Warcraft. With new systems, dungeons, and raids, players can look forward to an enriched experience filled with challenges, rewards, and opportunities for power progression. This blog post will guide you through the key features of Phase 7, detailing what’s new, what’s reworked, and when you can expect these updates to arrive.
Sanctified Gearing System
Season of Discovery Phase 7 introduces the Sanctified Gearing System, a significant upgrade to your character’s progression. This system works in tandem with the Seal of the Dawn, a new in-raid buff for Naxxramas. The Seal of the Dawn features ten distinct ranks, each of which progressively enhances your player power the higher it climbs. Players will start at the Aspirant’s Seal of the Dawn, gradually working their way up to the ultimate Highlord’s Seal of the Dawn. Each rank of the Seal boosts your character’s core stats, such as damage, healing, and survivability, depending on your role.
The buffs provided by the Seal of the Dawn are tied to Sanctified Armor. This new gear set can be equipped alongside the Seal to gain massive boosts to your abilities, but there’s a catch: the maximum number of Sanctified armor pieces you can equip is capped at 8. This forces players to think strategically about their gear and how they balance the various pieces to maximize their effectiveness. For tanks, healers, and DPS players, these buffs provide a powerful incentive to farm and complete Naxxramas content.
Once you unlock the Highlord’s Seal of the Dawn at Rank 10, your healing and shielding will increase by 37.50%, and your health will similarly see a 37.50% increase for each Sanctified armor piece equipped. Tanks will benefit from boosted threat generation, along with increased damage, making them more effective in raids. This system offers a depth of customization, allowing players to fine-tune their builds and specialize their characters for different raid roles.
Release Date for Sanctified Gearing System:
The Sanctified Gearing System will be available when the Naxxramas raid goes live on February 6, 2025.
New Dungeon – The Karazhan Crypts
Phase 7 introduces the highly anticipated Karazhan Crypts Dungeon, a 5-player dungeon located beneath the iconic tower of Karazhan. Players will delve deep into the catacombs to uncover ancient secrets and face new challenges. The dungeon is part of the Season of Discovery narrative and promises to add a darker, more sinister element to the story. This dungeon was teased at BlizzCon 2023, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival.
To enter the Karazhan Crypts, players must first complete an attunement process, which begins at Light’s Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands. This process will send players on an investigation of the Scourge’s presence in the region, building up to the ultimate challenge in the crypts. The dungeon features new enemies, traps, and bosses that will push players to their limits.
Expect a variety of mechanics that demand cooperation, strategic planning, and fast reflexes. Whether you’re looking for lore or just the thrill of combat, the Karazhan Crypts are sure to provide both. The crypts will reward players with powerful gear, including Sanctified armor and other high-level items that are crucial for progressing in the Naxxramas raid. Additionally, completing this dungeon will unlock new quests, factions, and possibly even a few surprises for the most dedicated adventurers.
Release Date for Karazhan Crypts Dungeon in Season of Discovery Phase 7:
The Karazhan Crypts dungeon will be available starting January 28, 2025.
New Naxxramas Hard Modes
In Season of Discovery Phase 7, the Naxxramas raid receives new Hard Modes that will challenge even the most experienced raid groups. These Hard Modes are activated through pylons located at the main hub of Naxxramas. Each pylon corresponds to a specific wing of the raid, empowering that wing with additional mechanics and affixes. Players can activate these pylons to increase the difficulty of the encounters and unlock greater rewards.
To access the highest level of difficulty, all pylons must be active, and every boss must be defeated in their empowered state. These new affixes will change the dynamics of the raid, forcing players to adapt to new environmental hazards and boss mechanics. Some of the new affixes include:
- Abhorrent Infestation: Egg sacs spawn during combat in the Arachnid Quarter, which explode after a few seconds.
- Fungal Contagion: The Plague Quarter is empowered, causing mushrooms to randomly grow and explode once fully matured.
- Marching Orders: The Military Quarter empowers random orders during combat, requiring players to obey or suffer deadly consequences.
- Overcharged: Increases attack and casting speeds, with occasional lightning pulses affecting nearby players.
These affixes will ensure that no two Naxxramas runs are the same, adding replayability and excitement for those looking for more challenging content. Players will need to carefully coordinate their strategies and roles to survive the hardest versions of these encounters.
Release Date for Naxxramas Hard Modes:
The Naxxramas Hard Modes will be unlocked when the Naxxramas raid goes live on February 6, 2025.
New Tier Set Shoulder Enchant
In Phase 7, players will be able to unlock a brand-new Shoulder Enchant that grants them set bonuses from previous raid tiers. This enchant allows you to equip shoulder pieces that provide T1, T2, or T3 set bonuses from Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul’Gurub, and Ahn’Qiraj. By adding these bonuses to your gear, you can enhance your character’s power and customize your builds in ways previously unavailable.
The T3 Set bonuses from the Naxxramas raid will also be available, making this enchant highly sought after for players who want to stack as many powerful bonuses as possible. This is an exciting addition for players who enjoyed the old content and want to revisit those classic raid sets. These bonuses can be mixed and matched to suit the specific needs of your role, whether you’re a healer, tank, or DPS.
This new enchant opens up many possibilities for character optimization and will likely become an essential part of high-end raiding and dungeon runs. It also provides a nice nostalgic element, allowing players to relive some of their favorite raid bonuses from the past. The flexibility of the system adds depth to gearing strategies, making Phase 7 an exciting chapter for anyone who loves to optimize their characters.
Release Date for Tier Set Shoulder Enchant:
The Tier Set Shoulder Enchant will be available starting January 28, 2025.
Season of Discovery Phase 7 Overview
Season of Discovery Phase 7 brings several core updates to World of Warcraft, combining lore, gameplay, and progression into one exciting package. The central themes of this phase focus on two major storylines: the Scourge invasion and the mystery surrounding the Karazhan Crypts. Players will need to band together to combat the Scourge in multiple zones and dungeons, while also exploring the catacombs beneath Karazhan to unlock new rewards.
This phase also introduces the Seal of the Dawn, a new raid buff that works alongside the Sanctified Gearing System, providing substantial buffs to players inside the Naxxramas raid. The Naxxramas raid itself is being reworked with new bosses, hard modes, and a scaling difficulty system called Empower. Completing this raid will reward players with updated Tier 3 sets and Sanctified gear.
The addition of the Karazhan Crypts Dungeon brings fresh content for 5-player groups to tackle, while the Scourge Invasion will test players in a variety of zones and dungeons. Expect to see new mounts, cosmetics, and reputation rewards, as well as a revamped Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian.
Scourge Invasion in Phase 7
The Scourge Invasion has always been one of World of Warcraft’s most iconic events. Phase 7 sees a modified version of the invasion, where the Scourge has infiltrated several zones and dungeons, as well as major cities. Players will need to battle undead enemies in zones like Eastern Plaguelands, Azshara, and Blasted Lands. Several dungeons, including Dire Maul, Scholomance, and Razorfen Downs, will also be affected by the Scourge, offering new challenges for adventurers.
To begin this event, players level 60 and above will need to visit Light’s Hope Chapel and accept the Light’s Hope Chapel quest. This quest will set players on a journey to investigate the Scourge presence, clearing out undead enemies and collecting Necrotic Runes along the way. These runes can be exchanged for useful items such as Blessed Wizard Oil and Consecrated Sharpening Stones from Commander Thomas Helleran at Light’s Hope Chapel.
This invasion is not only a prelude to the Naxxramas raid but also serves as a great way to prepare your character for the upcoming challenges. Players will earn new rewards and gear as they combat the Scourge’s forces, with plenty of opportunities to collect powerful items for both PvP and PvE content.
Reworked Naxxramas Raid
The Naxxramas Raid is being completely reworked for Phase 7, introducing Empower as a scaling difficulty system. Players can activate Empowered wings of the raid to increase difficulty and reward levels. These Empowered wings offer tougher bosses, harder mechanics, and increased loot drops, allowing players to challenge themselves in new ways.
The raid will scale for 20 players, but up to 40 players can participate. This will provide a dynamic raid experience, with a wide range of difficulty levels to suit different group sizes and skill levels. Defeating Empowered bosses will not only unlock new cosmetic rewards but also give players access to Sanctified gear—the new tier of powerful armor.
The raid will drop updated Tier 3 sets, which have been redesigned to fit the current content. There are also new mounts to earn, including the Reins of War, Reins of Conquest, Reins of Death, and Reins of Famine. One of the most highly anticipated rewards is the Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, which has been updated for Phase 7.
