SoD World Buff Changes – New Updates in Season of Discovery Phase 5

SoD World Buff Changes

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone and welcome to another InstantCarry blog post. Season of Discovery Phase 4 is slowly but surely coming to a close and we will try to look at what’s ahead and what awaits us in SoD Phase 5. In this post we will focus on the World Buffs and the changes that are coming for these in Season of Discovery.

In Season of Discovery Phase 5, significant quality-of-life changes are coming for World Buff quests. Players who have previously completed these quests can now enjoy a new version of the quest once per month, allowing them to re-activate their World Buff without repeating the initial grind.

Season of Discovery Phase 5 Patch Notes: SoD World Buff Changes

These updates make it easier for players to obtain and maintain their World Buffs. Additionally, players can now benefit from a faster cooldown for Darkmoon Faire (DMF) buffs—the cooldown to obtain a new DMF buff has been reduced from 4 hours to just 10 seconds!

World Buffs in Season of Discovery

Players who have completed the quests tied to major World Buffs—such as the Head of Onyxia, Heart of Hakkar, or the quests associated with defeating Rend Blackhand—will now be able to turn in a repeatable quest once a month to re-trigger these buffs on their realm. While these new quests don’t provide additional rewards or benefits, they do allow you to reactivate the World Buff events more conveniently.

Darkmoon Faire Buff Changes

In addition to the World Buff quest updates, there’s now only a 10-second cooldown for obtaining a Darkmoon Faire buff from Sayge in Season of Discovery, a huge improvement from the previous 4-hour cooldown.

Key World Buff Changes in SoD Phase 5

Onyxia – Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer

  • Quest: Seek out Major Mattingly in the Valley of Heroes for Alliance players, or Overlord Runthak in the Valley of Strength for Horde players to re-activate the Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer World Buff.
  • Once you’ve completed this quest for the first time (and received your Onyxia Blood Talisman, Dragonslayer’s Signet, or Onyxia Tooth Pendant), subsequent turn-ins won’t reward additional items, but you’ll still trigger the World Buff.

Rend Blackhand – Might of Stormwind/Warchief’s Blessing

  • Quest: Alliance players can take the Head of Rend Blackhand to Master Mathias Shaw in Stormwind, while Horde players deliver it to Orgrimmar to earn Warchief’s Blessing.
  • As with the Onyxia quest, once you’ve earned your initial rewards like the Mark of Tyranny, Eye of the Beast, or Blackhand’s Breadth, you’ll no longer receive these items on subsequent turn-ins, but you’ll still be able to re-trigger the World Buff.

Hakkar – Spirit of Zandalar

  • Quest: Players can turn in a new version of The Heart of Hakkar during Phase 5 to re-activate the Spirit of Zandalar buff on their realm.
  • The Heart of Hakkar remains a key quest item, and this new repeatable version allows players to easily re-trigger the World Buff without waiting for another kill of Hakkar.

Summary of SoD World Buff Changes

  • Monthly repeatable quests now available for reactivating World Buffs (Onyxia, Rend Blackhand, Hakkar).
  • No additional rewards from repeat turn-ins, just the World Buff activation.
  • Darkmoon Faire Buff cooldown reduced to 10 seconds from 4 hours.

These SoD World Buff Changes make maintaining and re-triggering buffs far more convenient for players in Season of Discovery, ensuring that everyone can enjoy these powerful effects with minimal effort.
