World of Warcraft Dragonflight Season 4: Release Date & Everything We Know!
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone and welcome to our World of Warcraft Dragonflight Season 4 blog post. There hasn’t been much talk about WoW Retail in the recent months, outside of the Mythic Dungeon International it’s mostly stale, and most of the time we just want to work towards obtaining our Fyr’alath the Dream Render, Elite Sets, Gladiators or Seasonal Mounts before Season 3 comes to a close.
The Question remains on when will Season 4 start, what we can expect and will there be more talk about the future of WoW in the coming months, or will everything revolve around the WoW Classic iterations of the game.
Ever since Blizzcon 2023, we’ve been waiting to hear more about the War Within, the WorldSoul Saga and what awaits us, but there’s a lot of things coming before then. With Season of Discovery Phases coming out every few months and Cataclysm Classic behind the corner, WoW Retail Players are still waiting to hear where is Season 4 and what we can expect from it.
Well without further ado, lets see what we know so far!
To start things off, we’ll leave you with a cinematic compilation to remind you of how the story unfolded so far in Dragonflight since Patch 10.2.
Dragonflight Patch 10.2 Recap (Video)
What is the Storyline after the Guardians of the Dream Campaign?
Generally there is some more story to be told in the coming Dragonflight patches. However, the Main Storyline ends with the defeat of Fyrakk and the celebration of Amirdrassil blossoming, Ysera’s goodbye etc. Even at this ‘party’ where we are joined by the Dragon Aspects, various Heroes and known NPC’s, if you stick around you already hear talk around from Jaina and Thrall talking about the voice in their head, which is basically leading into the WorldSoul Saga.
If we take all of this into account, we can safely assume that the Story will only unfold further into the next expansion. What does this mean for Dragonflight and its Season 4?
WoW Dragonflight Season 4 Release Date
When we first received the WoW Retail Roadmap for 2024, we could assume how the timeline would unfold. When it comes to the actual Release Date for Dragonflight Season 4, we did not yet receive an actual date. However, by looking at the Roadmap and how events unfold, we can assume that it will be somewhere in mid-late April or early May.
Also, there has been a lot of talk recently about the Dungeon changes as well as some other things, so it only shows that it’s close!
Dragonflight Season 4 Release Date – CONFIRMED
As we speculated Dragonflight Season 4 is set to Release on April 23rd! So get ready, farm out your Gladiator wins, get your Mythic+ done and get your Ahead of the Curve or Cutting Edge while you still can! The new Awakened Raids are just around the corner!
Is Amirdrassil the Dream’s Hope the Final Raid of Dragonflight?
Yes, as you might assume and as was confirmed by Blizzard – Amirdrassil the Dream’s Hope is the Final Raid of the Dragonflight expansion.
What can we expect from Dragonflight S4?
In WoW Dragonflight Season 4 we can definitely expect some changes to come. As we’re well aware, there will be no more new Raids, but it was hinted that something similar to Shadowlands Fated Raids will be done. Reworks of Dungeons are also going to be at thing, all in all, we can expect:
- Revisiting of Dragonflight Raids
- New Mythic+ Season and Mount
- New PvP Season and Gladiator Mount
- New Open World Activities and Rewards
- Item Level Increase from all Activities
and more!
WoW Dragonflight Season 4 Dungeon Progression Changes and Updates
A newly implemented change coming with Season 4 as well as going over into the War Within expansion is definitely going to be the increase in difficulty for Dungeons as well as how they will be viewed moving forward. As you can see on the picture (right-hand side), there has been a lot of changes coming to the actual difficulty levels and rewards with it, we’ll talk about it more below.
Dragonflight Season 4 Dungeon Issues | Community perspective
Blizzard’s development team found three critical issues flagged by the community regarding the current state of the Dungeon system:
- Lack of Distinction Between Heroic and Normal Dungeons at Max Level: Today, a Heroic Dungeon fails to offer a substantially different experience from a Normal Dungeon once you reach maximum level. Any differentiation typically occurs only briefly after you first reach the maximum level.
- Diminishing Relevance of Mythic 0 Dungeons: The significance of Mythic 0, or regular Mythic Dungeons drops off quickly. After a few weeks into an expansion it is generally not played at all, especially when M+ Season is out. While some Weekly Quests may change this, it doesn’t change the fact that these dungeons lose their relevance in the broader endgame landscape.
- Timer-centric Gameplay in Mythic+ Dungeons: The only way to get good gear from Dungeons is by doing High Mythic+ keys. And even though this was addressed to ‘prevent’ the relevance of keys higher than M+20, it is still a big issue for the majority of Players that are not playing FOTM Classes, or that are to put it plainly ‘not as good’ to perform well on the higher keys. The gear pacing outside of Mega-Dungeons solely relies on farming M+20 gear and this prevents Players that wish to play the regular Dungeons without a timer to have fun in them and gear up.
How were these issues addressed?
To address these concerns and bridge the gap in meeting Player demands, the Dungeon difficulty and Reward structure will be given significant restructuring for DF Season 4:
- Heroic Difficulty and Rewards: Heroic difficulty Dungeons will be increased to roughly the current level of regular Mythic Dungeons. These Dungeons will remain accessible through the Group Finder, although with an adjusted item level requirement to queue in line with the increased difficulty.
- Mythic 0 Difficulty and Rewards: Regular Mythic Dungeons (Mythic 0) will be increased to approximately the current challenge level of Mythic 8-10. While this may seem a bit random, it is perfectly aligned to match the difficulty, but it will lack the affixes. Hence the whole playstyle of the Dungeon will change.
- Mythic+ System Enhancement: The existing Mythic+ system will stay the same. However the M+ Dungeons will have their difficulty adjusted to the new Mythic 0 Dungeons in Season 4. This means that a Mythic 5 Dungeon in Dragonflight Season 4 will offer difficulty, rewards, and Mythic+ Rating equivalent to what a Mythic 15 offers in Season 3.
If you look at the image on the right, you will be able to see how this will change. So basically the Light-Blue circles show where we get new affixes in Mythic + Dungeons, this means that currently we gain affixes on M+2/M+7 & M+14. Whilst in the new system after the revamp the affixes will be gained on M+2/M+5 & M+10.
Dragonflight S4 Dungeon Changes
In Season 4 of Dragonflight, significant changes will be implemented across all eight dungeons, aimed at recalibrating difficulty levels to better align with player experience and progression throughout the season. These adjustments are designed to help Players that enjoy Dungeon content but may feel on edge by the high-pressure of Mythic+ content. This is also a way to foster a smoother transition for Players aspiring to go high into Mythic+ Dungeons.
One of the most notable changes is the removal of the timer for Mythic Keystone dungeons at what are currently rated as Mythic 0 and Mythic 10 in difficulty. You will now have the freedom to do these Dungeons at your own pace without having to run out of time, or rush the Dungeon because of the timer. This allows for a more relaxed experience in which they will be able to learn about those Dungeons better and without pressure while also working on their Skill levels.
Here’s an overview of the changes for each difficulty level:
Normal:
- No changes; this difficulty remains unchanged.
Heroic:
- Tuning and rewards for Heroic difficulty will be elevated to match the baseline challenge of a current Mythic (Mythic 0) Dungeon.
- Mythic difficulty mechanics will not be present in Heroic dungeons.
- Heroic difficulty remains queueable through the LFG system.
Mythic:
- Tuning and rewards for Mythic difficulty will be increased to mirror the challenge level of a +10 dungeon with affixes in the current Mythic+ system.
- Mythic Dungeons at this difficulty will not feature timers, affixes, or restrictions on changing specializations or talents while inside the dungeon.
- The goal is to create a mega-dungeon-like difficulty that offers a significant challenge and corresponding rewards, while increasing the pressures associated with the current Mythic+ system.
- Mythic 0 dungeons will continue to reset weekly under this new model.
Mythic+:
- The Mythic+ system will now offer rewards up to level 10, with the progression starting from what would traditionally be equivalent to a +11 in the current system.
- Each incremental increase in Mythic+ difficulty should represent a comparable challenge level to the current system; for example, a +5 should pose a similar difficulty to a +15, and a +10 should equate to a +20 in the current Mythic+ system.
- Affixes will be introduced at specific levels: +2, +5, and +10, increasing the challenge and difficulty.
- Dungeon ratings will maintain equivalence to their counterparts in the current Mythic+ system.
- There should be a smaller range of keystone levels to find groups for, and more meaningful progression between each level.
Dungeon Reward Item Level Changes in Dragonflight Season 4
This is how you can expect the Rewards to look in Season 4 compared to Season 3.

Naturally after the Dungeon Changes in Difficulty, we have Crest Changes being implemented for DF Season 4.
Dragonflight S4 Crest and Flightstone Updates
In Season 4 of Dragonflight, the rewards structure for Crests and Flightstones is undergoing adjustments to align with the revised dungeon difficulties. Here’s a breakdown of the changes:
Flightstone Rewards:
- Flightstone earnings for completing Mythic+ dungeons will now correspond to the difficulty level equivalent to those of previous seasons. For example, completing a Mythic +2 dungeon in Season 4 will yield Flightstone rewards equivalent to completing a Mythic +12 dungeon in Season 3.
- The rewards will be adjusted to match difficulty levels, ensuring consistency across seasons, despite changes in terminology.
- Bonus Flightstone awards for increasing any party member’s Mythic+ score will remain unchanged.
Whelpling Crests:
- Whelpling Crests will no longer be obtainable from Mythic+ dungeons, as these difficulties have been phased out. Players can still acquire Whelpling Crests from various outdoor sources.
Drake Crests:
- Players will earn 10 Drake Crests upon successful completion of a Mythic 0 dungeon. Since there is no timer to beat in Mythic 0 dungeons, the reward is based solely on completion.
Wyrm Crests:
- Wyrm Crests will now be available in Mythic +2 to Mythic +5 dungeons, offering the same quantities as in existing Mythic+ dungeons.
Aspect Crests:
- Aspect Crests will be obtainable in any Mythic difficulty from +6 and upwards, in quantities consistent with those found in existing Mythic+ dungeons.
Dragonflight Season 4 Raid Changes
As with every Season, the change in Item Levels for Dungeons will surely bring about an Item Level increase in the Raid Department. Even though the only information we have so far is that Dragonflight Raids will be revisited in Season 4, outside of that we’ve gotten nothing.
The best guess is that it will be like the Fated Raids from Shadowlands, and that they serve only to ‘buy time’ while we wait for the War Within expansion.
Once we know more, this section will be Updated.
Dragonflight Season 4 PvP Changes
When it comes to PvP and Arena aspect of Season 4, we are sure to get another Season with a recolor of the Season 1 Gladiator Mount. You can see how the mount will look on the right-hand side. Unless something changes that should be how it will look.
Outside of that, all we can hope for is some re-balancing of Classes, but seeing as the trend in Dragonflight is to have one Class be 2x stronger than the rest, we highly doubt we’ll see any major overhauls and they will most likely focus on the next expansion.
Once we know more or have more information we will update the post here.
