Arms of Arreat is named after Mount Arreat — the sacred mountain of the Barbarian people destroyed by Baal in Diablo 2 — and draws directly on the Barbarian’s traditional identity as a warrior defined by weaponry, versatility, and raw physical power. The set’s mechanics engage with one of the Barbarian’s most unique class features in Diablo 4: the Arsenal system, which allows the Barbarian to equip four weapons simultaneously and assign different weapons to different skills.
The weapon swap loop Arms of Arreat creates is one of the smoothest offensive and defensive feedback systems in Season 13. Every swap simultaneously triggers the two-piece damage amplifier, the three-piece Barrier, and the five-piece damage stack and automatic Weapon Mastery proc. A Barbarian cycling through their Arsenal in combat is therefore constantly generating Barriers to absorb damage, refreshing damage stacks toward 120%, and firing free Weapon Mastery Skills without depleting cooldowns as rapidly.
The five-second Weapon Mastery cooldown reduction from the two-piece compounds significantly with the automatic Weapon Mastery trigger from the five-piece. Builds with multiple Weapon Mastery Skills on their bar find that Arms of Arreat effectively removes the cooldown friction from their rotation entirely — swaps reduce cooldowns while simultaneously triggering the Skills, creating a self-reinforcing loop that keeps Weapon Mastery output near continuous throughout a fight.
