Bloodless Scream is a Necromancer-exclusive Unique Two-Handed Scythe in Diablo 4 built around Darkness Skills and a Chill-into-Freeze damage loop. All your Darkness Skills apply Chill to enemies for up to 100%, and once a target is fully Frozen those same Darkness Skills deal 100–200% increased damage against them. On top of the damage multiplier, Darkness Skills have up to a 100% Lucky Hit chance to generate 15–25 additional Essence against Frozen targets, solving the resource management challenge that Darkness builds typically face when casting expensive skills repeatedly. What Is Bloodless Scream and Why Buy It
Bloodless Scream creates a complete offensive loop from a single weapon — Darkness Skills apply Chill, Chill builds to Freeze, and Freeze triggers the 100–200% damage bonus and Essence generation on every subsequent Darkness Skill hit. The scythe effectively converts the natural Chill and Freeze mechanics that Darkness builds apply through Blight, Decompose, and Sever into a compounding damage cycle rather than a standalone crowd control tool.
The 100–200% increased damage against Frozen targets is the centrepiece of the weapon’s value. At the maximum roll, Darkness Skills deal triple their base damage against Frozen enemies. In builds with high Darkness Skill uptime — particularly those using Blight or Sever that hit repeatedly — this multiplier applies on every tick against a Frozen target, producing substantially higher total damage over the Freeze duration than an equivalent build without the scythe.
The Essence generation on Lucky Hit against Frozen targets addresses the resource limitation that prevents many Darkness Necromancer builds from sustaining continuous skill usage. Generating 15–25 Essence on each Lucky Hit against Frozen enemies means that the same skill rotation that builds Chill and triggers the damage bonus is also refilling your resource bar, creating a self-sustaining loop that keeps you casting without interruption throughout extended fights.
The 52–70% increased Freeze Duration extends how long enemies stay locked in the Frozen state. A longer Freeze window means more hits land at the 100–200% damage multiplier and more Lucky Hit procs generate Essence before the target thaws. Peace of the Black Shroud charm set pairs directly with Bloodless Scream for Darkness-focused builds that want to stack Corrupting and Frostbite on top of the scythe’s Freeze damage bonus.
