Deathgrip are a Necromancer-exclusive Unique pair of Gloves in Diablo 4 built entirely around Skeleton Warrior scaling. Your maximum number of Skeleton Warriors is increased by 6 — bringing the base cap from 4 up to 10, and up to 13 with the Master of Puppets skill upgrade on top. All Skeleton Warriors gain cleave on their attacks and deal 40–50% increased damage. When you command them onto a specific target, that target takes additional increased damage from all your Warriors simultaneously. Understanding Deathgrip
Deathgrip is one of the enabling items that makes Skeleton Warrior Necromancer function as a genuine endgame build archetype rather than a novelty. Prior to Season 13, Skeleton Warriors were limited to 4 active at a time — a constraint that kept their total damage output well below other Necromancer damage sources. Deathgrip adds 6 Warriors in a single item slot, more than doubling the army size to 10, and then amplifies every one of those Warriors with cleave and a 40–50% damage bonus on top.
The cleave addition is what makes the increased Warrior count compound rather than simply add. 4 Warriors hitting single targets generates 4 damage instances per attack cycle. 10 Warriors cleaving 3 targets each generates 30 damage instances per attack cycle — a sevenfold increase in total damage events from two changes in a single item. In the context of the Reaper Summoner build on Icy Veins, which is designed around grouping enemies tightly with Blight Whirlpool specifically to maximize how many targets each Warrior cleave hits, Deathgrip’s contribution to total build damage is substantially larger than a simple percentage increase would suggest.
The command bonus adds meaningful active gameplay to what is otherwise a passive army management build. Directing Warriors onto a Boss or Elite with Command Skeletons while they are grouped and cleaving from Deathgrip creates a brief high-damage window where all Warriors simultaneously deal cleave damage with the command bonus active — making each command use a deliberate offensive cooldown rather than an incidental direction tool.
