Dolmen Stone is a Unique Amulet built exclusively for the Druid and the core item for Boulder builds in Lord of Hatred. Its mechanic is simple but powerful: whenever a Boulder would have normally expired, it instead explodes and deals 450–600 additional damage to surrounding enemies. The explosion also creates a hidden vortex that pulls nearby enemies into the impact point, adding a crowd control layer on top of the damage. This changes how the build approaches overcasting — rather than wasting excess Boulders, every extra cast or triggered additional Boulder becomes a guaranteed explosion when it times out. Because affixes are randomized in Lord of Hatred, secondary stats will vary by roll, but the Unique Effect is always fixed. Dolmen Stone drops from Andariel, Maiden of Anguish and can also be found from Nightmare Dungeons, World Events, and general open-world loot.

Dolmen Stone Mechanics Explained
In Lord of Hatred, Boulder received a significant rework through the Dolmen’s Will variation, which transforms it into a Core Skill that orbits around you without needing Hurricane active, with up to 5 Boulders maintained simultaneously. Dolmen Stone connects directly to this new playstyle: every Boulder that finishes its duration instead of simply disappearing now detonates for a meaningful amount of additional damage, meaning no cast is ever truly wasted even when you are already at maximum Boulder count.
The vortex on each detonation is what separates this from a simple damage bonus. When a Boulder explodes, the pull effect drags enemies toward the impact point, which concentrates targets together and increases how much of the explosion damage hits multiple enemies simultaneously. In dense packs where several Boulders expire in quick succession, the overlapping vortex effects create a strong grouping mechanic that pairs naturally with other AoE damage sources in the build.
The practical effect on rotation is that overcasting Boulder is actively beneficial rather than wasteful. Previously, casting Boulder beyond the maximum count just cancelled older ones early. With Dolmen Stone, reaching the cap and casting again triggers an early explosion on the oldest Boulder, turning what was a drawback into a deliberate damage tool. The build’s core loop — maintain rotating Boulders, keep casting, let explosions and vortexes handle crowd control — is one of the more self-sufficient clearing patterns available to the Druid in the current season, which has helped Boulder reach A Tier in Season 14.
