In Diablo 4 it continues this legacy by making Penetrating Shot the complete package: a skill that pierces through every enemy in its path, guarantees Vulnerable on each one, and every four casts delivers a wall-bouncing shot that hits from an unexpected angle for dramatically increased damage.
The guaranteed Vulnerable on every Penetrating Shot hit is the most build-defining element of the bow. In standard Penetrating Shot builds without Eaglehorn, Vulnerable application requires a dedicated system — a skill like Shadow Step or a Legendary Aspect slotted specifically for that purpose. Eaglehorn replaces this entire system with passive guaranteed Vulnerable on every shot fired. This simplification does not just save an Aspect slot — it means that every enemy Penetrating Shot pierces, even secondary targets hit after the first, are all Vulnerable simultaneously without any timing or positioning requirement.
The 37–55% double-cast chance is the output multiplier that makes Eaglehorn builds fire at nearly double their base projectile rate in practice. With a 55% roll, slightly more than half of all Penetrating Shot uses fire two projectiles simultaneously — each piercing independently, each applying Vulnerable independently, and each counting toward the 4th-shot bounce tracker independently. In a full fight, the average projectile output from Eaglehorn’s double-cast is dramatically higher than the skill’s base single-projectile design, which compounds with Critical Strike Damage and Vulnerable Damage simultaneously on every extra projectile.
