The boots translate this commitment into a mechanical relationship with one of the Druid’s most distinctive companions: the Poison Creeper, a subterranean predator that emerges from the earth to poison and immobilize enemies. The boots deepen this bond by granting Germinate for free — a skill upgrade that makes the Poison Creeper’s work self-propagating, spreading its effects through enemy deaths without any additional investment.
The skill point flexibility that Greenwalker’s Oath creates is the boots’ most practically significant contribution to Companion Druid builds. Poison Creeper has three upgrade paths — Germinate, Carnivorous, and Toxic Vegetation — and normally a build must choose which to invest in. Greenwalker’s Oath collapses this choice by providing Germinate automatically, allowing the build to take Carnivorous on top for direct damage on each active cast while Germinate continues firing through enemy deaths. The 30–40% bonus damage amplifies both the direct damage from Carnivorous and the passive Poison stacks from the creeper’s periodic ground emergence simultaneously.
In the context of Companion builds that scale damage through Shepherd’s Aspect — which grants bonus damage per active companion — Poison Creeper’s contribution to the companion count makes Greenwalker’s Oath indirectly valuable beyond its direct Poison Creeper damage bonus. Each Poison Creeper active counts toward the Shepherd’s Aspect companion total, and the Accord of the Wilds ring further amplifies this by granting each Companion Skill one additional companion — making every Poison Creeper in the rotation a multiplier for the entire build’s damage output.
