Iceheart Brais is a Unique pair of pants built for Sorcerers running a Frost build, and it turns every Frozen kill into a potential chain reaction. Whenever an enemy dies while Frozen, you have a chance to trigger a Frost Nova on the spot, which can then Freeze and kill nearby enemies, triggering more Frost Novas in turn. In a pack of enemies, this can snowball into several explosions going off back to back from a single kill. The pants also boost your Frost Nova’s size, so each explosion covers more ground, and add bonus ranks to Shatter’s Damage Echo, increasing your burst damage against Frozen targets even further. On top of all that, you get a solid boost to Maximum Life and Cold Resistance, which helps offset the fact that you’re likely standing in the middle of a fight surrounded by exploding enemies. Iceheart Brais drops from Lord Zir and Grigoire, and can also turn up in Nightmare Dungeons, World Events, and general loot around the world. Iceheart Brais Mechanics Explained
The whole point of Iceheart Brais is to turn a single kill into the start of a chain reaction. Normally, killing a Frozen enemy is just that, a kill. With these pants on, that same kill has a chance to set off a Frost Nova right where the enemy died. If there are other enemies nearby, that Nova can Freeze them too, and if any of those enemies then die while Frozen, they have their own chance to trigger another Nova. In a dense pack, this can keep going for several chains in a row, all triggered from one initial kill.
The Frost Nova Size bonus is what makes this chain reaction actually useful rather than just a neat visual. A bigger Nova radius means each explosion is more likely to catch nearby enemies in its Freeze, which keeps the chain alive longer and spreads the Freeze effect across a wider area with every trigger. Combined with the Shatter’s Damage Echo bonus, which increases your burst damage against Frozen enemies specifically, you end up with a build where Freezing something doesn’t just stop it from acting, it sets up a bigger payoff right after.
The Maximum Life and Cold Resistance bonuses matter more than they might look at first glance. A build that’s actively trying to stand in the middle of enemy packs to trigger these chain Frost Novas needs to be able to survive standing there, and these defensive stats give you the cushion to do that without immediately backing off after every cast.
