Mace of King Leoric is a Necromancer-exclusive Unique One-Handed Mace in Diablo 4 built around the Golem. The 8-second consumption cycle creates a predictable power rhythm in Golem builds. Every 8 seconds the Golem’s Life resets to full and its damage jumps by 70–80% for a 10-second window. With a 10-second buff duration on an 8-second cycle the Golem maintains the damage bonus almost continuously — the buff is still active when the next consumption fires, meaning the Golem operates in a near-permanent buffed state as long as skeletons are available to consume. This sustained damage elevation is what makes the weapon the primary driver of Golem DPS in Season 13 rather than a situational burst item.
The interaction with Overpower is what pushes Golem builds into the truly extreme damage territory described by the aoeah Season 13 DPS guide. The Iron Golem’s shockwave attack can carry Overpower, and with 12 Overpower stacks from the Lazy Iron Lord configuration stacked on top of the Mace of King Leoric damage buff, each shockwave delivers a combined damage output that scales into ranges unavailable to other damage sources in the game.
