Might of Qual-Kehk is named after one of the most celebrated Barbarian warriors in Arreat’s history — a man whose throwing strength was legendary even among the Barbarian tribes. The item’s inscription from Feats of Arreat, Vol. IV reads: “Even as a boy, Qual-Kehk’s strength was the stuff of legend. It was said he could split oak trees in two with one throw of his blade.” The gloves embody this reputation by taking Mighty Throw — the Barbarian’s signature throwing skill — and amplifying its damage through an unconventional stat conversion that rewards deep character investment.
The CDR-to-damage mechanic is one of the most unique item interactions in Season 13 because it completely redefines the value of Cooldown Reduction for builds that equip these gloves. Cooldown Reduction is normally a universal defensive utility stat — useful across all builds for accessing powerful skills more frequently. Might of Qual-Kehk makes it a pure offense stat for Mighty Throw, which means Mighty Throw builds that stack CDR aggressively on every gear piece are simultaneously building the highest possible damage multiplier for their primary skill.
At 75–100% effectiveness the conversion is highly efficient. A build with 50% total Cooldown Reduction from gear, Aspects, and paragon converts 37.5–50% of that into direct multiplicative damage on Mighty Throw — a substantial multiplier that stacks on top of everything else in the build. Because it is multiplicative it compounds with Critical Strike Damage, Vulnerable bonus, Berserking amplification from Emblem of Staalbreak, and any other multiplicative sources simultaneously, creating a damage ceiling that scales dramatically with investment.
