Overkill is a Unique Two-Handed Mace built exclusively for the Barbarian and the weapon of choice for Death Blow builds in Lord of Hatred. Its Unique Effect is straightforward: Death Blow automatically gains all of its side upgrades and deals 60–75% increased damage. In Lord of Hatred, Death Blow has multiple side upgrade options across its skill tree — including Fury generation on kill, Overpower stacking, and additional effects — and Overkill makes you eligible for all of them simultaneously without spending skill points on each one individually. The damage bonus on top of that free upgrade package makes it the most direct way to amplify Death Blow’s output in a single item slot. Because affixes are randomized in Lord of Hatred, secondary stats will vary by roll, but the Unique Effect is always fixed. Overkill drops from Lord Zir and can also be found from Nightmare Dungeons, World Events, and general open-world loot.

Overkill Mechanics Explained
Death Blow in Lord of Hatred has a set of side upgrades on the skill tree that each add distinct effects to the skill — Fury restoration on kill, Overpower stack generation, and additional modifiers that change how the skill interacts with your rotation. Normally accessing all of these requires investing skill points across multiple upgrade nodes. Overkill removes that constraint by granting all Death Blow side upgrades passively while the weapon is equipped, meaning every upgrade effect is active regardless of how your skill points are distributed elsewhere.
The 60–75% increased damage multiplier stacks directly on top of whatever other Death Blow scaling you’ve built into the rest of your gear and paragon. For a skill that is already designed around high single-hit damage — Death Blow deals a massive damage spike that scales with the target’s missing health — a flat 60–75% multiplier is a meaningful addition to the total output. Combined with the free side upgrades feeding Overpower stacks and Fury restoration into the rotation, the weapon enables Death Blow to function as both a primary damage skill and a resource-sustain tool simultaneously.
The Overpower generation from the free side upgrades is particularly relevant in Lord of Hatred. Overpower was reworked in this expansion — it now functions as an additive damage buff rather than a flat multiplier, making it a valuable resource to stack through any available source. Death Blow generating Overpower stacks on kill through Overkill’s free upgrade package means every successful kill feeds into the next cast’s damage potential.
