Cold builds excel at freezing and chilling large groups of trash enemies, but boss and elite encounters frequently feature Unstoppable windows that negate the Sorcerer’s primary control toolkit entirely. Rather than accepting these windows as periods of reduced effectiveness, Rimeblood converts the Unstoppable state into a damage trigger — the moment an enemy becomes Unstoppable is precisely when Frost Bolt becomes most lethal against it.
The 80–100% damage multiplier on pierces is significant in the context of how Frost Bolt normally functions as a Basic Skill. Basic Skills in Diablo 4 are designed to have lower per-hit damage than Core and Mastery Skills to reflect their zero-resource-cost design. A piercing 80–100% bonus applied to every qualifying hit pushes Frost Bolt’s damage per piercing cast into territory that approaches Core Skill damage numbers — particularly when multiple enemies in a frozen line are hit by the same Frost Bolt projectile, each taking the full pierce bonus independently.
As a Unique Charm via the Horadric Cube, Rimeblood keeps the full Frost Bolt piercing and damage bonus active through the Talisman slot while freeing the gloves slot for a Legendary piece with stronger offensive affixes — the natural optimization path for Cold Sorcerer builds that want the piercing mechanic without the gloves slot trade-off once appropriate Legendary gloves become available.
