The Third Blade is a Unique Sword built exclusively for the Barbarian and a core piece for any Weapon Mastery build. Its unique effect transforms your Weapon Mastery Skills into Core Skills, removing their cooldowns entirely and having them cost Fury instead, dealing a percentage of their normal damage with Fury costs reduced for each additional charge the skill would have had. The sword also carries a massive Damage Per Second rating, bonus Critical Strike Damage, Vulnerable Damage, Strength, Weapon Mastery Damage, and Fury On Kill, combining raw stats with a complete rework of how Weapon Mastery Skills function. Because affixes are randomized, secondary stats will vary by roll, but the Unique Effect is always fixed. The Third Blade is most reliably farmed from Infernal Hordes, specifically the Spoils of Hell chests, and can also drop from Nightmare Dungeons and general enemies or chests across Sanctuary.

The Third Blade Mechanics Explained
The Third Blade works by rewriting the resource system behind an entire category of skills. Weapon Mastery Skills normally sit behind cooldowns, meaning you can only use them occasionally as utility or burst tools, but this sword removes those cooldowns entirely and reclassifies them as Core Skills that spend Fury instead. This means abilities like Steel Grasp, Rupture, or Upheaval can now be cast as often as your Fury pool allows, turning what used to be situational cooldown-gated tools into part of your main damage rotation.
Because Fury cost scales down based on how many charges a Skill would have originally had, Skills that normally had multiple charges become proportionally cheaper to spam under this system, letting Barbarians lean into whichever Weapon Mastery Skills synergize best with their build. The Vulnerable Damage, Strength, and Weapon Mastery Damage rolls all stack directly onto the now-constant stream of Weapon Mastery casts, while the Fury On Kill affix helps sustain the resource cost created by casting these skills so frequently. This combination of cooldown removal and Fury-based scaling is why The Third Blade is treated as a defining weapon for Weapon Mastery Barbarian builds pushing Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, or high-difficulty boss content.
