Will of Stone is a Druid-exclusive Unique Helm in Diablo 4 that fundamentally changes how Earth Spike functions. Instead of erupting from the ground beneath a target, Earth Spike is now launched as a projectile from the Druid’s position. On impact it deals 225–300 damage to the target and summons 2–4 additional Earth Spikes around the impact point simultaneously. This rework turns Earth Spike from a single-target melee-range skill into a ranged projectile that generates a cluster of additional spikes on every hit — increasing both the skill’s range and its multi-target potential in a single item slot. Understanding Will of Stone
Will of Stone is one of the more mechanically transformative helms in Diablo 4 because it does not simply add a stat bonus to Earth Spike — it changes the fundamental behaviour of the skill entirely. Earth Spike without this helm is a close-range ground eruption useful primarily as a resource generator or setup tool for nearby enemies. Earth Spike with Will of Stone is a directed ranged projectile that spawns a cluster of additional impacts on landing, functioning more like a long-range area skill than a melee Basic Skill.
The multi-spike generation on impact is what makes the helm’s damage contribution meaningful beyond the projectile conversion. Each additional Earth Spike spawned at the impact point deals Earth Spike’s full damage independently — meaning at 4 additional spikes the single cast generates 5 separate Earth Spike damage instances simultaneously at the landing zone. For builds that scale Earth Skill damage through gear affixes, Vasily’s Prayer bonuses, and Paragon board Earth Skill nodes, each of those 5 instances benefits from the full damage multiplier stack applied to Earth Skills. This transforms a single button press into a multi-hit burst that scales with the same investment as every other Earth Skill in the build.
The ranged nature of the projectile also changes how Earth Spike interacts with Werebear gameplay specifically. Werebear form’s strength lies in close-combat tanking and area damage from Pulverize, but it historically has had limited ranged options when enemies spread out. Will of Stone gives Werebear builds a meaningful ranged spike option that retains Earth tags — allowing the build to contribute Earth Skill damage at distance between Pulverize windows without dropping out of Werebear form.
