Voices is a Unique Sapphire Jewel that carries over one of Path of Exile 1’s most iconic concepts into PoE 2 with a new implementation suited to the game’s passive tree structure. In the original game Voices was a Large Cluster Jewel that provided additional jewel sockets on a cluster without any notable passives — effectively trading the cluster’s passive nodes for raw jewel slot count. In Path of Exile 2 the concept is adapted to the Sapphire Jewel format: a single jewel that, when placed in any allocated socket, creates two new Sinister Jewel Sockets in the central region of the passive tree near the character portrait.
The Sinister Sockets created by Voices are not constrained by proximity rules or tree zone requirements the way standard jewel sockets are — they exist as independent slots that can hold any jewel the player wishes to place in them. This makes each socket created by Voices maximally flexible: rare jewels with multiple useful modifiers, unique jewels with build-defining effects, or additional utility jewels all slot in without restriction. Because jewel modifiers in PoE 2 frequently provide equivalent or superior scaling compared to entire clusters of passive nodes, each additional socket represents a meaningful and direct power increase that scales with however much the player can invest in the jewels that fill it.
The three socket-count variants — 2, 3, and 4 Sinister Jewel Sockets — reflect that Voices jewels roll different numbers of sockets as part of their core modifier, with higher socket counts being substantially rarer and more expensive. A 2-socket Voices is already a significant power addition to any build. A 4-socket Voices represents the ceiling of what the jewel can provide, creating three additional net jewel slots from a single passive tree socket investment.
