About the Monster Hunter Wilds Rathalos Carry
Rathalos has been the face of Monster Hunter since the original game in 2004, and it returns in Monster Hunter Wilds with a revamped moveset. While it still dominates the air with fireballs and poison talon dives, the Wilds version spends more time within reach of ground-based hunters, making its attacks harder to anticipate due to how much of the screen it occupies.
The aerial game remains Rathalos’ strength. It swoops with poisonous claws, breathes fire in wide arcs, and launches tracking fireballs while hovering. The classic strategy still works: Flash Pods stun it instantly and send it crashing down, giving massive damage windows. Breaking its wings cripples its flight ability, causing it to stumble and crash when trying to take off.
Our boosters exploit the Focus Strike opening after every fireball attack, use Flash Pods strategically, and prioritize wing breaks to keep Rathalos grounded. If Rathian joins the fight, Dung Pods separate them immediately.
What You Can Craft
Rathalos materials create Fire-element weapons and the iconic Rathalos armor set. The armor’s set bonus, Rathalos’s Flare (Scorcher), gives a chance to deal bonus Fire damage on attacks — perfect for builds focused on elemental damage output.
The weapons follow a classic design with Rathalos’ distinctive red scales and fire theme. They’re effective against Ice and Dragon-weak monsters throughout the game. Rathalos gear has been a staple of Monster Hunter loadouts for over two decades, and the Wilds version continues that tradition. With our Rathalos Boost, you skip the aerial chase and go straight to crafting the King’s equipment.
