The Steamvault is the most important reputation and attunement dungeon in TBC Classic, TBC 20th Anniversary, and upcoming TBC Fresh realms. Located inside Coilfang Reservoir in Zangarmarsh, Steamvault is the only Coilfang dungeon whose Normal mode grants Cenarion Expedition reputation all the way to Exalted and is a mandatory step for Tier 5 raid attunements.
Steamvault also gates Heroic access, Serpentshrine Cavern attunement, and the Vials of Eternity questline. Because of this, players are required to run it repeatedly, often facing dangerous Naga pulls, heavy crowd control, lethal boss mechanics, and frequent pug wipes.

About TBC The Steamvault
Steamvault occupies a unique position among the Coilfang Reservoir dungeons because its Normal mode alone carries enough reputation value to push Cenarion Expedition all the way to Exalted, something none of the other Coilfang dungeons can do on their own. This makes Steamvault a recurring stop for nearly every character progressing through Coilfang content, not just a one-time clear for attunement purposes, since the Exalted reputation track unlocks valuable recipes and gear from the Cenarion Expedition quartermaster.
The dungeon’s Naga-heavy trash pulls are what make it notoriously difficult to pug. Naga packs in Steamvault hit hard and often require careful crowd control to manage safely, and a single mismanaged pull can snowball into a wipe far more easily than in dungeons with more forgiving trash density. Combined with lethal boss mechanics on both Normal and Heroic difficulty, Steamvault demands more coordination from a pickup group than its level range might suggest, which is part of why it has such a longstanding reputation as one of the harder dungeons to pug cleanly.
Beyond reputation, Steamvault also gates progression toward Serpentshrine Cavern attunement and the Vials of Eternity questline, both of which are required steps for players aiming at Tier 5 raid content. This dual role, reputation grind and attunement gate, is why Steamvault sees so much repeated traffic throughout a character’s TBC Classic progression rather than being content players clear once and move past.
