Tempest Keep Attunement Carry — the Full Questline Breakdown. The Tempest Keep attunement starts with A’dal in Shattrath City, who sends you on the Trial of the Naaru. There are three trials, each tied to a different Heroic dungeon objective. Trial of the Naaru: Mercy sends you into Heroic Shattered Halls to rescue a prisoner before a timer expires. Trial of the Naaru: Strength requires clearing both Heroic Steamvault and Heroic Shadow Labyrinth in the same quest. Trial of the Naaru: Tenacity sends you into Heroic Arcatraz to defeat the final boss. After all three trials are complete, A’dal sends you to kill Magtheridon in Magtheridon’s Lair. Only after delivering the final quest item do you receive The Tempest Key and permanent access to The Eye.
Why the Tempest Keep Attunement Boost Takes a Full Week. Each step of the TK attunement has its own bottleneck. Every Trial of the Naaru quest requires clearing a Heroic dungeon, and every Heroic dungeon in TBC Classic is locked behind a reputation-gated key. If you’re missing any of these keys, you need to grind the relevant faction to Revered before you can even enter the dungeon. On top of that, the Magtheridon kill at the end requires a coordinated raid group. Stacking all of these requirements together is what turns the TK attunement from a questline into a week-long project — especially for players relying on pugs for each step.
Required Heroic Keys for TK Attunement. The core of the TK attunement involves the Trial of the Naaru quest chain, which tasks you with completing specific Heroic-difficulty dungeons. To enter these dungeons, you must purchase the corresponding Heroic keys from reputation quartermasters. Each key requires Revered reputation with its associated faction:
- Flamewrought Key — Required for Heroic Shattered Halls (Trial of the Naaru: Mercy). Purchased from Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde) at Revered reputation.
- Reservoir Key — Required for Heroic Steamvault (Trial of the Naaru: Strength). Purchased from the Cenarion Expedition quartermaster in Zangarmarsh at Revered reputation.
- Auchenai Key — Required for Heroic Shadow Labyrinth (Trial of the Naaru: Strength). Purchased from the Lower City quartermaster in Shattrath at Revered reputation.
- Warpforged Key — Required for Heroic Arcatraz (Trial of the Naaru: Tenacity). Purchased from the Sha’tar quartermaster in Shattrath at Revered reputation.
