Diablo 4 Season 3: The Gauntlet Guide

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Guide

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone and welcome to our newest Diablo IV Guide. In this Guide we will talk about a controversial topic for Diablo 4’s Season 3, and that is the Diablo 4 Gauntlet. We will do our best to cover the majority of things that happened regarding the D4 Gauntlet as well as it’s release date, where to find it and what to expect inside it!

There was a lot of talk regarding The Gauntlet in Diablo 4’s Season 3, firstly because there were so many delays that some even questioned it’s existence, or what it’s supposed to be. What we knew until recently was that Blizzard kept a lot of things in the dark and we simply had no info outside of “It will be a Leaderboard activity in D4 Season 3”.

Considering the release of Diablo 4 Gauntlet was constantly delayed from week to week, in some circles Questions arose as to whether or not it will even see the light of day. However, for those that thought that way – you were wrong.

Lets see what’s new and what we can expect from this newly added Diablo 4 Leaderboard activity in Season 3!

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Release Date

We can’t put anything else first, but the actual Release Date for D4’s Gauntlet. When Blizzard first announced it, the release was supposed to take place on February 13th, 2024. However due to the delays it was moved to February 20th, then February 27th. In the last week of February there was some talk about Diablo 4 Gauntlet Release being moved ‘indefinitely’ until they fix some problems that they had no solutions for.

This has depressed many of the Players in the community who awaited the D4 Gauntlet to arrive soon, but to no avail. However, with the beginning of March, we finally got what we wanted, and that is the actual Diablo 4 Gauntlet Release date which went LIVE on the 5th of March 2024.

Lets talk a bit about what this activity actually is and what can be achieved!

What is The Gauntlet in Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 Gauntlet is the newest addition to the End-Game activities that Diablo IV provides. Aside from the Pinnacle Bosses, the Nightmare Dungeons and Nightmare Vault Dungeons of high Tier, we get The Gauntlet to stand above it all and provide an addition to the contest between Players in the game itself.

Realistically, Diablo IV’s ‘contest’ is mostly about who gets to Level 100 First and who will clear the Pinnacle Bosses and T100 Nightmare Dungeons first. However with the addition of Seasonal End-Game activities like Abattoir of Zir in Season 2 and The Gauntlet in Season 3, we gain a new flavor. Additionally, The Gauntlet is a new way to prove ourselves to others and become Immortalized with Diablo 4 Gauntlet Leaderboard.

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Thew Horn of TrialsHow to get into The Gauntlet?

In order to access the Diablo 4 Gauntlet, you will have to get to World Tier IV. Once you are in this World Tier, you will be able to go to Gea Kul – the Capital of Kehjistan and activate the Horn of Trials which will start The Gauntlet.

Note: You DO NOT have to be Level 100 in order to access The Gauntlet, but it is highly recommended considering it’s the next step after the T100 Nightmare and Vault Dungeons. You need all the advantage you can get, and those extra Paragon Points may prove crucial!

Things You should know before entering the Gauntlet?

As with everything, there are a couple of things that you should definitely be aware of before venturing into The Gauntlet. We will write a list about what you should know:

  • Gear and Skills – Once you enter The Gauntlet your Skills, Paragon as well as the Gear that you have equipped will be PERMANENT for that Diablo 4 Gauntlet run. So make sure that you have everything set before venturing inside.
  • Map Layout – The map along with all enemies, Pillars, Chests and monsters with Keys are found in the same location each run. This means that if you learn the layout in that week well, you can definitely get a much better score. Go and scout it multiple times before realizing the best possible route to take so that you can rank higher!
  • Time Limit – You have 8 minutes to collect as many Proofs of Might as possible for the highest score. The Gauntlet being time limited definitely puts the edge on speed and efficiency as well as proper Character build and itemizations, so make sure you definitely have all those covered before going in!
  • Monster Level – Enemies are equivalent to that of a Nightmare Dungeon 70. This means that the Monsters inside of Diablo 4 Gauntlet will be Level 124.
  • Do your best NOT TO DIE! – While not the end of your run, you drop a third of your Proofs on the ground if you die. You (or a teammate) can pick them up in the spot you died; Hardcore is still Hardcore though!
  • Reset Timer – The current Gauntlet ends every Tuesday at 8:00 AM PDT(6 PM CET), with a new one starting 10:15 AM PDT(8:15 PM CET) at which point the layout changes.

What are Proofs of Might?

Proofs of Might are basically the Points which dictate your overall score. They can be earned by killing monsters endlessly and by opening chests. A great addition and something that will distinguish how you actually perform and rank in The Gauntlet will be the usage of Pillars.

What is the Purpose of Pillars in Diablo 4 Gauntlet?

If you are aware of Shrines or ‘Obelisks’ of sorts which grant you various buffs, well Pillars in The Gauntlet are the same thing. Naturally, they are adjusted to the logic behind Diablo 4 Gauntlet, but it’s important to note that they are also affected by “+% Shrine Buff Duration” that you can get on your gear, so this is something to keep in mind.

There are two different Pillars in The Gauntlet, those are:

  1. The Pillar of Proving
  2. The Pillar of Glory

Pillar of Proving Diablo 4 GauntletPillar of GloryDiablo 4 GauntletThe Pillar of Proving

One of the most important things is choosing when to use your Pillar of Proving (Image left-hand Side). When this Pillar is used it will revive or re-summon the entire Gauntlet. Meaning all of the monsters you’ve slain as well as Bosses will be up again for you to kill so that you can gain more Proofs of Might and rank up your score.

The Pillar of Glory

Aside from the Pillar of Proving, the Pillar of Glory has a different use. This is also the point at which your “+% Shrine Buff Duration” on gear gets to shine. The Pillar of Glory (Image right-hand Side) gives you increased amount of Proofs of Might gained from Chests, Bosses and monsters in the Diablo 4 Gauntlet.

How do You gain Keys and Open Chests in the Gauntlet?

In the Gauntlet, obtaining Keys is crucial for unlocking Regular and Golden Chests scattered throughout the dungeon. These chests give valuable rewards, with Golden Chests offering significantly more than Regular ones. Each chest requires only one Key to open, making it essential to strategize your route to maximize your chances of accessing as many Golden Chests as possible. This is easily doable by knowing the Map layout from previously doing it and making the best possible strategy for your push.

All in all, even though the challenge lies in acquiring these Keys, which are dropped by specific monsters within the Diablo 4 Gauntlet – there are workarounds as mentioned before. You won’t know which monsters drop the Keys before entering The Dungeon, but the silver lining is that these designated monsters remain the same across different runs of The Gauntlet. Therefore, once you identify the key-dropping monsters, you can plan your route accordingly to ensure you defeat them and collect the Keys needed to unlock the chests.

To optimize your efficiency, keep an eye out for chest icons on the mini-map, which indicate the locations of both Regular and Golden Chests. By strategically navigating the Gauntlet, defeating the designated monsters, and collecting Keys, you can enhance your chances of accessing valuable rewards and increasing your score in the Gauntlet challenge.

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Bosses

Similar to Chests In the Gauntlet, Elites and Bosses are explicitly marked on the mini-map. This greatly simplifies the process of locating them within the Dungeon. Defeating Bosses is particularly rewarding, as they not only provide a substantial number of Proofs of Might but also drop Shrines upon defeat.

The Shrines are consistent with each specific Boss encounter, meaning that the type of Shrine dropped remains the same every time you defeat that particular Boss. Since Shrines typically do not appear elsewhere in the Gauntlet, understanding which Shrines each boss drops allows you to strategize and plan your power boosts more effectively.

By using this knowledge, you can carefully plan out when and where to defeat Bosses to maximize the benefits of the Shrines they drop. Whether it’s enhancing your combat abilities, bolstering your defenses, or gaining other advantageous effects, the strategic utilization of Shrines can greatly influence your success in navigating the challenges of the Gauntlet.

SEALS that you can obtain in The Gauntlet

Seals in the Gauntlet serve as markers of achievement and progression, reflecting your character’s performance within the dungeon. Each Seal represents a tier of accomplishment, with higher Seals indicating greater success and skill.

Note: Even though Seals have a minimum score threshold based on the Gauntlet’s performance for that particular week, achieving a Seal does not guarantee a placement on the Leaderboards.

For example: Even attaining the prestigious Seal of the Worthy—the highest Seal—may not secure you a spot within the Top 1,000 rankings. Therefore, your primary focus should be on maximizing your score to the best of your ability, regardless of the Seal you attain.

The journey through the Seals begins with the Seal of the Blooded, marking your entry into the Gauntlet. As you progress and demonstrate your skill, you advance to higher Seals, including the Seal of the Steadfast, Seal of the Iron-willed, and ultimately, the high sought after Seal of the Worthy.

What’s particularly interesting is that your progression through the Seals is entirely dependent on your character’s performance and score within the Gauntlet. Depending on your character’s power, strategy, and execution, you may ascend from earning no Seal to achieving the prestigious Seal of the Worthy in a single Gauntlet run. The path to each Seal is determined solely by your dedication, skill, and your ability to overcome the challenges presented within the Gauntlet.

Diablo 4 Gauntlet Leaderboards

Gauntlet Rewards Diablo IV

In the Gauntlet, the pursuit of glory and greatness takes the form of Leaderboards, where You will be able to rise and claim your rightful place among the best of the best in the game. These Leaderboards are well organized, and they ensure a fair competition which allows participants to compare their performance against others.
