Idol of Silk is a Unique Augment in Path of Exile 2 that bridges the gap between the Block, Parry, and Companion systems across three different item types. Socketed into a Shield it grants 15% increased Block chance while your Companion is in your Presence — a conditional Block bonus that rewards maintaining a Companion active in your aura field during combat. Socketed into a Buckler it causes Companions to gain Onslaught when you Parry — granting your Companions the Onslaught attack and movement speed buff each time you successfully perform a Parry, directly translating your defensive timing into an offensive buff for your Companion army. Socketed into a Sceptre it causes all Companions in your Presence to gain 1 Rage on every hit — passively building Companion Rage throughout sustained combat without any additional investment. The Bonded modifier adds a distinct secondary layer to each application: Shield gains +3% to maximum Block chance — raising the Block cap itself rather than simply increasing the roll toward it. Buckler gains 30% increased Parry Range — making successful Parries easier to execute by widening the window in which incoming attacks are intercepted. Sceptre gains 30% increased Area of Effect for all Companions — expanding the spatial coverage of every Companion’s attacks simultaneously. As with all Idols, socketing is permanent and cannot be undone, only replaced. Limited to 1 per character and requires Level 50. Idol of Silk is named after Silk — the Shadow companion from Path of Exile 1’s lore, associated with speed, precision, and opportunistic aggression. The Idol translates this identity across three different defensive item types, each connected to the concept of using precise defensive actions — blocking, parrying, or maintaining ally proximity — to generate offensive benefits for Companions.
The Shield application ties Block chance directly to Companion presence, creating a passive incentive to maintain an active Companion in the aura field during combat. Block chance in Path of Exile 2 determines how frequently incoming hits are fully blocked — the 15% increased chance while a Companion is present is a meaningful improvement for Block-focused builds, and the Bonded +3% to maximum Block chance raises the ceiling that Block investment is trying to reach simultaneously. Together the two effects raise both the effective block rate during Companion-active combat and the theoretical maximum achievable block percentage from a single Augment slot.
The Buckler application converts successful Parry executions into Companion speed buffs.
