Styrn’s Mountain is an endgame-exclusive Lineage Support Gem in Path of Exile 2 designed for shield-and-melee combat archetypes that use blocking as an active damage enabler rather than purely a defensive mechanic. Styrn’s Mountain and Styrn’s Ferocity form a companion pair — two Lineage gems named after the same legendary warrior and designed around the same shield-combat identity, each addressing a different dimension of it. Styrn’s Ferocity converts Shield Skill hits into Crush and Armour Break applicators, making the shield an offensive stripping tool. Styrn’s Mountain converts the act of blocking through a shield-raising skill into a damage multiplier for the offensive melee rotation, making the defensive posture a setup for a stronger counter-strike. Together they represent the full combat philosophy of Styrn the Indomitable — a fighter who both breaks defences and refuses to yield to pressure, turning each aspect of shield combat into either an attack or a reward for absorbing one.
The 20% more damage bonus on all non-shield Melee Skills is a multiplicative modifier — in Path of Exile 2, “more” damage applies as a separate multiplier rather than adding to the increased damage pool. This means 20% more damage on every melee skill in the offensive rotation simultaneously compounds with all other modifiers in the build rather than simply adding to a sum. For builds with substantial increased Physical or melee damage already invested across gear and passive tree, a 20% more multiplier applied universally across every offensive melee skill is a significant total output increase that scales proportionally with the existing investment.
The 50% more Stun Threshold for Heavy Stuns is the survivability layer that makes Styrn’s Mountain a defensive tool as well as an offensive enabler. Heavy Stuns in Path of Exile 2 interrupt the player’s actions completely — a particularly punishing outcome during a shield-raising phase where the character is already committing to a defensive posture. Increasing the Stun Threshold by 50% while using the supported skill means the character can absorb significantly larger single hits without being Heavy Stunned during the block window, maintaining the rotation integrity that the 20% more damage bonus depends on.
