Tangmazu’s Thurible is an endgame-exclusive Lineage Support Gem in Path of Exile 2 that fundamentally transforms how Companion summons scale defensively. Tangmazu’s Thurible solves a persistent structural problem in Companion-based builds in Path of Exile 2 — the divergence between player character defensive scaling and Companion survivability. Player characters in Evasion and Deflection builds invest heavily into Evasion Rating through gear, passive tree, and Dexterity scaling, and into Deflection Rating through shield investment and relevant nodes. Companions share none of this scaling by default — they survive on their own base stats and minion-specific modifiers, which frequently becomes insufficient in high-tier endgame content where individual hits from Elite enemies and map bosses exceed Companion health thresholds.
Tangmazu’s Thurible bridges this gap directly. The 40% transfer rate — +4 per 10 of the player’s rating — means a player with 3,000 Evasion Rating grants their Companions 1,200 additional Evasion Rating simultaneously. A player with 2,000 Deflection Rating grants 800 additional Deflection Rating to each Companion at the same time. Both transfers apply to every Companion from the supported skill simultaneously, and both scale proportionally with every subsequent gear upgrade that increases the player’s own Evasion or Deflection. This creates a natural investment alignment — improving the player character’s defences for personal survivability simultaneously improves every Companion’s defences at 40% of the gain without any additional gem or equipment investment targeting minion stats specifically.
The Gigantic status granted to supported Companions is the secondary transformation that changes how they interact with the battlefield beyond pure stat numbers. Gigantic Companions occupy more physical space, have substantially higher health pools from size scaling alone, and present a more imposing defensive presence on the battlefield — drawing more enemy attention through their size and absorbing more hits before the Evasion and Deflection transfers reduce the damage they take from those that connect.
The 30 additional Spirit reservation cost is the tradeoff the gem imposes — a meaningful resource commitment for builds already reserving Spirit across multiple persistent skills.
