Diablo IV Season 3: ULTIMATE Uber Bosses Guide
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone, and welcome to another InstantCarry blog post! In this post we will do our best to cover all the necessary things and preparations that you have to do in order to defeat each and every Boss in Diablo 4. Uber Bosses are definitely one of the most important activities that you can do in Diablo IV, and this goes double for Seasons. We will try and focus on the Season of the Construct and how the Uber Bosses can be defeated in Season 3.
Considering we are now able to ‘target’ farm Unique Items, it’s important to note that they usually change the builds that we can play as well as smoothen out all the sharp edges on our current builds and make us destroy packs, high Nightmare Dungeons, Nightmare Vaults, outworld activities, Bosses as well as help us farm other Unique or Uber Unique items later on.
Having in mind that the Unique items can be target farmed, it’s important to know where to find the Bosses, how to summon them, what you have to do to defeat them and last but not least, the items that they can drop.
So without further ado, lets jump into it!
What are Uber Bosses?
Uber Bosses are the Pinnacle Bosses of Diablo IV. That being said, there are differences in difficulty as well as the Rewards for defeating each of them. Some can be summoned even on World Tier 3, while others require World Tier 4. Naturally, summoning a Boss on World Tier 4 will give you higher item level loot, as well as additional currency and necessary reagents to summon other Uber Bosses.
When we talk about Uber Bosses, it’s best to split them into TWO Groups:
- Regular Uber Bosses
- Pinnacle Uber Bosses
Lets talk a bit more about them and how they differ.
Diablo 4 Regular Uber Bosses
The Regular Diablo 4 Uber Bosses might be a ‘rough’ label, but it’s important to distinguish those from the ones that they help you confront afterwards. Even though these Bosses are technically ‘Uber’ Bosses as well, they are not quite on that level and do not deserve the same title as the actual ones do. However, it’s important to mention their role in the game and it is necessary for you to kill some of them if you wish to contend with the real ones.
The Bosses that fall in this category are:
- Lord Zir, the Dark Master
- Beast in the Ice
- Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint*
- Uber Varshan – Echo of Varshan*
Diablo 4 Pinnacle Uber Bosses
The Pinnacle Diablo IV Uber Bosses are simply those that you wish to overcome and defeat before you can say: ” Yes, now I’ve overcome every challenge in the game.” On top of that, by defeating these Bosses you will have a chance at the most amazing Unique & Uber Unique items in the game as well as the best possible Rewards that Diablo IV has to offer.
The Bosses that fall in this category are:
In the continuation of this post we will go over each of the Bosses individually and explain how they can be found, summoned, defeated as well as which Unique or Uber Unique items and other Rewards can be received from them.
Lord Zir – The Dark Master Boss Guide

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
Against any Diablo 4 Uber Bosses in the game you must pay attention to their abilities and to your surroundings, it’s imperative to know what to expect and properly adapt, know your burst windows and be ready for what is to come.
Lord Zir, the Dark Master’s Abilities
Initially Lord Zir attacks you alone, but as the fight progresses he is joined by vampiric minions.
- Slap – Taking offense to your very existence, Lord Zir attempts to slap intruders in his domain. This doesn’t hit very hard, but you can position behind the boss to avoid it.
- Blood Rain – Lord Zir hunches down and flaps his wings to release a rain of blood upon the arena. Watch for where the projectiles land and avoid the puddles. The puddles move from time to time, and interact with some of his other abilities.
- Blood Talons – After assuming a crab-like stance, Lord Zir generates claws of blood and scythes targets in front of him. This hits fairly hard, but is easy to avoid as you can move behind him when he rears up.
- Wing Blast – When he reaches 66% health Lord Zir gains a new ability. He teleports away from you, and begins to charge a powerful wing blast which deals damage and knocks you back. Look for the telegraph on the floor, initially it tracks your movement but the position becomes locked shortly before the ability activates.
While Lord Zir doesn’t gain many new abilities over the course of the fight it can become increasingly difficult to deal with him, the minions he summons, and the environmental effects. However the presence of these minions means that you can proc on kill effects liberally to enhance your damage against the boss.
Minions & Environmental Hazards
During the encounter you’ll have to deal with bats, Vampire mages, Blood Seekers, and various environmental hazards. He’ll summon a Blood Orb or Blood Seeker each time he loses around 20% health, and sometimes summons both at once.
- Blood Puddles – From time to time the blood puddles move around the arena, merging together and emitting projectiles which inflict Vulnerable. Avoid standing near puddles, and watch for incoming projectiles.
- Blood Orbs – As he takes damage, Lord Zir summons blood orbs which do one of two things:
1) Summon Minions – These orbs summon Vampire Bats and Mages, kill them as they spawn.
2) Blood Wave – The orbs with a bubbling effect beneath them waves of blood across the arena, avoid standing near them and move away from the waves. - Summon Blood Seeker – Starting at 80% health Lord Zir occasionally summons a Blood Seeker after losing a portion of his life. Burst the Blood Seeker down as these can be dangerous if ignored.
- Empowered Blood Rain – Below 60% health Lord Zir rapidly flaps his wings causing the blood pools to emit projectiles which inflict Vulnerable.

That in mind, you can target farm specific items that you need based on Class, or if you need some other Non-Class specific Unique items, you can get those by farming different Uber Bosses too. Summoning Requirements
In order to summon the Beast in the Ice, you have to collect Distilled Fear by completing:
After you finish a Nightmare Dungeon or a Nightmare Vault, you will receive a Distilled Fear bottle after defeating the Boss of the Dungeon, or after looting the chests in the Vaults. After acquiring 9 Distilled Fear bottles, you will be able to go to the Occultist and make a Glacial Fissure sigil and confront The Beast.
Location
The Location of this Boss is somewhat ‘unnecessary’ to know considering like any other Nightmare Dungeon or Vault, you will be able to use the sigil and teleport directly inside the Dungeon. For Guide purposes, The Glacial Fissure is located South-west of Kyovashad.
Basic Information
- World Tier Minimum Required: World Tier 4
- Boss Level: 85
- Requirements: Complete Nightmare Dungeons Tier 30+
- Summoning Material: 9 Distilled Fear
- Element Type: Cold
- Cosmetic Reward: Skull Torch and Binding the Fell Steed

Stagger Bar Mechanic
Immediately beneath the health bar is a stagger bar, this slowly fills when Crowd Control (CC) is dealt. Once full, the Boss is rendered helpless for a short window of time. Use this opportunity to unleash as much damage as you possibly can.

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
When we talk about the Beast in the Ice specifically it is important to note that this is one of the Diablo 4 Uber Bosses that has more Phases than Lilith. He has a total of 3 Phases all of which change the fight and make it harder. Lets go through all of them and explain what needs to be done.
Phase 1
Initially The Beast in the Ice attacks you using his sword, breath, and ice spikes. His attacks don’t deal much damage individually but often release multiple icy projectiles which can be difficult to avoid.
- Frozen Strike – Whenever The Beast slashes with his sword ice crystals are released. These shatter after traveling a short distance releasing multiple smaller ice spikes. Move behind the boss to avoid his melee attacks, and watch for incoming ice spikes.
- Icy Breath – Occasionally, he inhales deeply then exhales multiple ice crystals. These shatter after traveling a short distance releasing multiple smaller ice spikes. Move out of the frontal cone and watch for incoming ice spikes.
- Frostquake – The Beast roars and repeatedly slams his sword into the ground generating multiple frost pools which land after a short delay dealing damage. Don’t stand in front of the boss, and avoid the large circles on the ground.
- Leap Attack – After taking some damage, The Beast leaps into the air then slams down dealing damage in a large area. In addition to dealing damage, the impact releases several ice crystals. These shatter after traveling a short distance creating a dangerous ring of ice spikes. When you see him jump, use a defensive to tank the damage or use a movement skill before he lands to move out of the area. If you dodge the main slam, be prepared to dodge ice spikes after.
Intermission
At 66% and 33% Health The Beast in the Ice enters an intermission phase where he summons a blizzard to constrict the space you have to fight. During this intermission, he is invulnerable and cannot be targeted.
- Intermission Adds – During the intermission there are several smaller enemies, in particular watch out for enemies that explode. Kill them, but position yourself carefully so you aren’t hit by Strafing Run.
- Strafing Run – The Beast summons waves of ice which sweep across the arena. If these hit you, you’ll be knocked into the storm and take significant damage. Try to stay near the center of the room, when the lines appear telegraphing the attack look for the safe zone and stand in it. If you don’t think you’ll make it, try to pop a source of Unstoppable so you’re not Frozen and knocked into the storm.
Phase 2
After the first intermission The Beast returns, crashing back into the arena.
- Icy Hail – The Beast plants his blade into the ground and begin to channel causing a series of 4 icy explosions targeted at your location, the explosions release 5 icy waves in a pentagonal formation. To avoid this, try to be moving in an arc around the boss, if you see one of the lines projected under your character adjust and move out of the effect. Try to keep a source of Unstoppable ready, a single hit is unlikely to kill you but getting Frozen and tanking the entire mechanic is dangerous.
- At 33% Health the second intermission begins.
Phase 3
During the fight’s final phase the storm remains active, leaving you precious little room to dodge, and occasionally The Beast uses Strafing Run.
- Enhanced Icy Hail – this works identically to Icy Hail, however on the final explosion there’s a second spread of 5 icy waves. Avoid this in the same manner as Icy Hail, however on the last tick dodge a second time.
The Beast in the Ice – Loot Tables and Rewards
Each of the Diablo 4 Uber Bosses has a different loot table. That in mind, you can target farm specific items that you need based on Class, or if you need some other Non-Class specific Unique items, you can get those by farming different Uber Bosses too. Non-Class Specific Unique Items
Barbarian
Druid
Necromancer
Rogue
Sorcerer

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
When facing The Echo of Varshan, be vigilant and aware of his most dangerous abilities. Throughout the encounter, Varshan utilizes three distinct abilities, and the following section provides guidance on each:
- Tentacle Strike:
- Description: Varshan intermittently lashes out with tentacle-like intestines, simultaneously releasing several putrid projectiles.
- Strategy: This ability, while not extremely damaging, can be avoided by utilizing Evade or your movement skill to jump behind the boss. Keep in mind that Varshan restores a portion of his Barrier upon successfully hitting with this attack.
- Putrid Dance:
- Description: Varshan taps into pure putrescence, covering the floor in a pattern of corruption. Different sections of the floor highlight pink and then explode after a short delay.
- Strategy: Move out of the highlighted pink areas, and follow the pattern to evade damage. Varshan has three different patterns for this move, so be prepared to adapt to each.
- Summon Malignance:
- Description: After summoning three Malignant minions, Varshan attempts to absorb their power.
- Strategy: Focus your damage on the Malignant minions, prioritizing the one Varshan is targeting with his channel. Failure to kill the targeted minion before the channel completes results in Varshan gaining dangerous buffs:
- Wrathful: Varshan inflicts Daze and deals damage over time on hit.
- Devious: Varshan drains resources on hit.
- Vicious: Increased damage.
Stay agile, anticipate Varshan’s moves, and coordinate with your team to effectively counter these abilities for a successful encounter.

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
To successfully navigate the encounter with Duriel, King of Maggots, it’s crucial to be aware of his various attacks. Here’s a breakdown of his most dangerous abilities:
Uber Duriel’s Abilities
- Poison Strike:
- Duriel inflicts Poison on hit when attacking with his claw.
- Evade or use a movement skill to position yourself behind the boss.
- Poison Slam:
- Duriel slams his claw into the ground, creating a Poison pool and launching poisonous projectiles in a circle.
- Move away from the initial impact point but stay at close to medium range to avoid the projectiles and pools.
- Expel Waste:
- Duriel inhales and then expels waste from his lower maw.
- Move away from the boss to navigate between the projectiles.
- Rain of Maggots:
- At 80% and lower health, Duriel raises his claws, causing maggots to rain from the ceiling.
- Use area-of-effect (AoE) damage skills to eliminate the maggots during the fight.
- Rampaging Charge:
- Below 80% health, Duriel charges wildly, dealing significant damage to players caught at the end of the charge.
- Move away from the boss when he begins the charge. For melee builds, wait for the charge to finish before engaging.
- Claw Spike:
- As Duriel’s health decreases, he uses a move similar to Poison Slam, hitting harder and without spawning pools.
- Watch for the telegraph where he raises his claw and move away from the boss to avoid the impact.
Pang of Duriel – Abilities
During the encounter with Duriel, King of Maggots, it’s essential to manage the additional threat posed by his summoned minions, the Pangs of Duriel. Here’s a breakdown of their behavior and how to deal with them:
- Pangs of Duriel:
- Two Pangs of Duriel initially emerge in the room at the beginning of the encounter.
- Approach and attack them to prompt Duriel to appear.
- At 60% health, one additional Pang of Duriel is summoned.
- At 40% and 20% health, two Pangs of Duriel are summoned.
- While Duriel is below 20% health, he occasionally reuses this ability.
- Poison Nova (Pang of Duriel Ability):
- The Pang of Duriel occasionally releases a nova of poisonous projectiles.
- Avoid the projectiles by moving close to the minions. Stay vigilant to minimize damage.
- Dive (Pang of Duriel Ability):
- After being approached, the Pang of Duriel dives into the ground in an attempt to escape.
- Wait for it to reappear, then resume dealing damage. Capitalize on the opportunity to strike when they resurface.
Prioritize dealing with the Pangs of Duriel to prevent them from becoming a significant threat during the fight. Their abilities, particularly the Poison Nova, can pose dangers, so stay aware and adapt your positioning accordingly. Be weary of all these abilities, and plan your movements accordingly to maximize your chances of success against Duriel.

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
Malphas, Diablo 4’s inaugural stationary boss, introduces a distinctive encounter where players face an immovable construct controlled by Malphas himself. Positioned at the center of the boss area, Malphas employs a range of traps to impede players during the battle.
One notable attack involves the deployment of Chakrams, featuring two variations:
- Bouncing Chakrams:
- These Chakrams rebound between the player and the immovable construct, requiring strategic positioning to evade.
- Elemental Chakrams:
- Malphas hurls three Chakrams simultaneously, each possessing different elemental affinities. The sequence initiates with fire, eventually transitioning to ice.
It is important to note that during the whole encounter you will be faced with pillars coming from one of the four sides. The platform is divided into 4 parts and each part has a different Element:
- Fire Element Pillar – Malphas takes control of Fire and starts making rows of Fire burning that you have to avoid, on top of that there are meteors dropping down as well as other dummies that spin around with Fire all around them.
- Frost Element Pillar – The Boss will cover 1/4 of the platform in ice – you must avoid this at all costs. On top of that a Blizzard will be falling on top of certain areas that you can notice on the floor. Make sure that you avoid this and the Boss Damage.
- Poison Element Pillar – Once this pillar is up, there will be pools of poison ( similar to Duriel ) that you have to avoid, on top of that Malphas himself will be encased in Poison all around him which will prevent you from attacking him.
- Lightning Element Pillar – When this Pillar is up you will have to make sure to avoid Stormbane’s Wrath type of Obelisk floating around, as well as make sure to avoid the Lightning strikes which will be marked on the floor. These Lightning strikes will be all over the platform in a straight line, and if you don’t avoid them – they are deadly.
NOTE: Each of these Pillars can be destroyed and once the encounter starts they will always go CLOCKWISE. The order of Pillars is like this:
- Lightning
- Frost
- Fire
- Poison
Depending on which ones comes up when you start the encounter, the rest will follow. You must make sure to destroy these pillars before going in to do damage, but bear in mind that if you are too slow at killing pillars or getting to them, you can easily get overwhelmed or get 2 pillars up at the same time.
Observing the boss’s visual cues and monitoring floor hazards is essential for recognizing the current elemental phase and adapting your strategy accordingly. Stay vigilant to navigate the challenges presented by Malphas and emerge victorious in this unique encounter.
Uber Malphas, Keeper of the Vaults – Loot Tables and Rewards
For now we can only assume that this Boss can drop any and all items. However, the main reason you want to farm him will definitely be to get the Evernight and Genesis Uber Unique Tuning Stones.

Last but not least on our list is the main antagonist of the Diablo IV franchise – Lilith. Which is overcoming time and Seasons in terms of difficulty as well as the Rewards, so lets get into it!
Echo of Lilith – Uber Lilith Boss Guide
The Echo of Lilith stands as an optional boss encounter in Diablo 4, accessible after reaching World Tier 4 by clearing the second Capstone Dungeon. To confront Lilith, players must enter the Echo of Hatred dungeon situated in the church of Nevesk. Triumphing over Echo of Lilith for the first time rewards players with the “Silence is Hellish” challenge, the “Lilith’s” title, Reins of the Bloody Liquid Steed, and two Legendary or above-quality items. Subsequent victories yield two items, claimable once per character.
Recommended Stats:
Before engaging in this formidable encounter, it is crucial to ensure that your character is adequately prepared:
- Damage:
- Aim for a minimum of 1 million DPS to expedite the fight. Inadequate damage output can lead to prolonged battles, with the accumulating damage from Blood Orb Creation becoming insurmountable.
- Defense:
- Lilith employs two types of attacks—normal attacks and one-shot attacks. Build defenses to withstand regular attacks comparable to those encountered in level 100 boss fights. However, prioritize dodging one-shot attacks, as surviving them is challenging. Invest more in damage output and evasion.
- Utility:
- Movement Speed is a crucial stat for this encounter. Base 100% Movement Speed, combined with the wrong Boot implicit and lacking mobility skills, may render some of Lilith’s attacks unavoidable. Enhance Movement Speed with rolls on Boots and Amulet, and consider additional Evade charges. Incorporate mobility skills like Teleport or Dash, and include an invulnerability ability such as Flame Shield or Blood Mist. Aim for a minimum of 140% Movement Speed, with “Max Evade Charges” or “Movement Speed after Evade” rolls on your boots.

Boss Mechanics and Strategy
For Uber Bosses such as Echo of Lilith we can’t simply say a few things, but we’ll break down each of her Phases and abilities.
Phase 1: Echo of Lilith, Hatred Incarnate Abilities
Blood Orb Creation:
Lilith executes the Blood Orb Creation attack, draining the player’s blood and inflicting unavoidable damage. Simultaneously, Volatile Blood is generated beneath the player, and three Dancing Blood Orbs materialize, orbiting the player for 5 seconds before swiftly exiting the arena. Contact with a Dancing Blood Orb inflicts minor damage and imparts a 2.5-second Vulnerability effect on the player. This attack imposes a stacking debuff, elevating damage by 2% per stack. The initial hit applies 2 stacks, and each Dancing Blood Orb adds 1 stack on impact.
Volatile Blood, a common enemy with 1,200,000 HP, poses a threat. If left undefeated for 12 seconds, Volatile Blood erupts, dealing lethal room-wide AoE damage. When Lilith’s health falls below 40%, this attack generates two Volatile Bloods.
Strategy:
- DPS Focus:
- Due to the escalating damage from the stacking debuff, prioritize high DPS to conclude the fight swiftly. Prevent accumulating excessive debuff stacks.
- Volatile Blood Management:
- Swiftly eliminate the Volatile Blood enemies spawned during the attack. Failing to do so within the allocated time (12 seconds) results in a room-wide AoE eruption, causing lethal damage.
- Immunity Abilities:
- If unable to eliminate Volatile Blood in time, employ abilities that grant immunity, such as Flame Shield, Blood Mist, or Lacerate, to survive the impending explosion.
Melee Combo:
Lilith initiates the Melee Combo by advancing two steps forward, executing two wing strikes against the player. If the player is positioned at a considerable distance, Lilith performs a shadowstep to close the gap before commencing the attack.
Strategy:
- Range Advantage:
- Exploit the attack’s low damage by maintaining a safe distance or sidestepping the incoming strikes.
- Facetanking Opportunity:
- For many builds, the damage output of this attack is manageable. Consider facetanking it to seize the opportunity for dealing damage to Lilith.
Fissure (Single):
Lilith employs this version when her health exceeds 70%. She generates a sequence of parallel fissures on the ground, culminating in explosions after a brief 1-second interval. Players positioned on the fissures suffer damage.
Strategy:
- Avoidance:
- Steer clear of the fissures on the ground to evade the impending explosions.
- Low Damage Output:
- Most builds can simply ignore this ability due to its relatively low damage.
Fissure (Double):
This variation is activated when Lilith’s health drops below 70%. Lilith creates two sets of parallel fissures in a criss-cross pattern. The fissures detonate after a 1-second delay, dealing damage to players situated atop them. Standing on the intersection of two fissures results in double damage.
Strategy:
- Mind the Intersection:
- Avoid standing on the intersection of two fissures to prevent double damage.
- Awareness:
- Be cautious, especially for squishier builds, as the double-hit can pose a greater threat.
Wave of Spikes:
Lilith executes this formidable attack by turning towards the player and summoning two shadow clones. Following a brief pause, Lilith and her clones leap backward while unleashing a sweeping wave of demonic spikes. This wave inflicts lethal damage upon contact.
Strategy:
- Positioning:
- The simplest evasion tactic is to move behind Lilith as she readies the wave.
- Arena Edge:
- If Lilith’s back is against the arena’s edge, maneuver backward and to the side to avoid the impending danger.
- Avoiding the Center:
- Stay vigilant to prevent Lilith from aiming the wave directly through the center of the arena, making it crucial to never stand between Lilith and the central point when close to the edge.
Death From Above (Same Direction):
In this perilous maneuver, Lilith springs upward, temporarily vacating the arena. Following a 1.2-second interval, three warning markers manifest on the ground: one adjacent to the player and two positioned slightly backward on the sides. After an additional second, Lilith’s shadow clones descend, launching three narrow waves of demonic spikes from the marker locations. Subsequently, Lilith herself descends, initiating the fourth wave down the middle lane from a more distant position.
Strategy:
- Anticipate the Jump:
- Once Lilith initiates her jump by crouching, swiftly move towards the edge of the arena.
- Optimal Positioning:
- If you reach the edge promptly, all wave-launching points will reside inside the circle. Move to the opposite side, positioning yourself behind the fourth warning marker. This ensures you remain clear of all wave paths and are conveniently positioned to deal damage upon Lilith’s descent.
- Alternative Dodge Method:
- If you fail to reach the edge in time, and safe areas land outside the circle, a more intricate evasion strategy is necessary. Sidestep the first marker to let the initial wave pass. Immediately position yourself behind it to avoid the subsequent side wave. Repeat the process for the final wave down the middle. Note that the hitbox of the waves extends slightly in front of them, so approaching from behind is safer. Standing atop the spikes from the back side won’t cause damage.
Death From Above (Opposite Directions):
In this iteration of the perilous maneuver, Lilith propels herself skyward, briefly exiting the arena. Following a 1.2-second interval, three warning markers materialize on the ground: one directly adjacent to the player and two positioned on the sides but farther back. After an additional second, Lilith’s shadow clones plummet down, unleashing three narrow waves of demonic spikes from the marker locations. Subsequently, Lilith herself descends, launching the fourth wave down the middle lane from a more distant position.
This version is available when Lilith is below 70% HP.
Strategy:
- Anticipate the Jump:
- When Lilith crouches before her jump, swiftly move towards the edge of the arena.
- Optimal Positioning:
- If you reach the edge promptly, and since you always stay in the middle lane, employ the same strategy as the previous version: wait for the marker, then run to the opposite side to position yourself behind the fourth wave.
- Alternative Dodge Method:
- If you fail to reach the edge in time, adapt your dodge strategy. Position yourself behind the first marker and closely follow behind the wave as it passes. When the side waves traverse the area, move away from the middle to avoid the incoming final wave. If the first marker is at the edge of the circle and inaccessible, retreat backward and to the side to position yourself behind one of the side waves.
Death From Above (Triangle):
In this iteration of the formidable maneuver, Lilith executes a calculated aerial display involving three waves following the sides of a clockwise triangle. Lilith herself descends in the center of the triangle, unleashing lethal damage in a sizable circular area of effect.
This version is available when Lilith is below 40% HP.
Strategy:
- Positioning for Dodge:
- Adopt the same general approach for dodging: swiftly reach one side of the circle to divert the attack off-center. Subsequently, rapidly dash to the secure area on the opposite side.
- Consideration for Triangle Geometry:
- Be mindful that the waves persist beyond the vertices of the triangle. To ensure safety, position yourself entirely outside the triangle.
- Time Sensitivity:
- Unlike the prior two versions, this attack provides less reaction time, especially considering the need to evacuate the central area swiftly.
- Emergency Invulnerability:
- If, due to delays, there are no safe zones available, relying on invulnerability abilities becomes crucial for survival.
Death From Above (Opposite Direction + Slam):
In this rendition, Lilith incorporates the three initial waves from the second version. Diverging from the pattern of launching the fourth wave down the middle, Lilith descends directly adjacent to the player, unleashing lethal damage in a sizable circular area of effect.
This version is available when Lilith is below 40% HP.
Strategy:
- Standard Dodging Approach:
- Employ the established method of dodging: expediently reach one side of the circle to direct the attack off-center. Swiftly dash to the secure area on the opposite side.
- Awareness of Additional Threat:
- If you opt to stay in the middle lane during the dodge, remain vigilant regarding the imminent wave that will follow a few seconds later. Adjust your position to the left or right when the side waves traverse your location.
- Swift Movement and Timing:
- Given the combined nature of the descent and slam, efficient movement and timing are essential for avoiding both components of the attack.
- Emergency Invulnerability:
- In scenarios where there are no accessible safe zones due to timing issues, relying on invulnerability abilities becomes pivotal for survival.
Phase 2: Echo of Lilith, Mother of Mankind
Blood Orb Creation (Single):
In this iteration, Lilith employs a tactical maneuver where she drives her tail into the ground, concurrently extracting blood from the player. This action results in unavoidable damage and the formation of 8 Dancing Blood Orbs arranged in two concentric circles around the player. After a brief delay, a blood explosion transpires next to the player, inflicting damage and generating a new Blood Orb in the center. The previously formed Blood Orbs caught in the explosion are eradicated.
During this phase, the Blood Orbs function as obstacles rather than enemies. Stepping into a Blood Orb induces low damage over time and imposes a slowing effect on the player. In specific attacks within this phase, Blood Orbs give rise to lethal Red Souls that pursue the player. If Lilith experiences Stagger, all Blood Orbs, excluding two chosen at random, are obliterated.
This attack administers a stacking debuff to the player, escalating its damage by 2% per stack. The initial impact and the subsequent blood explosion apply 2 stacks each, while each Dancing Blood Orb contributes 1 stack upon impact.
Strategy:
- DPS and Debuff Management:
- Due to the escalating damage from the debuff, sustaining ample DPS is critical to conclude the encounter before accumulating an excessive number of stacks.
- Anticipation and Evade:
- The initial hit is inevitable, but the impending blood explosion can be effectively evaded using the Evade mechanic. Anticipate the explosion and employ Evade to sidestep the damage.
- Awareness of Blood Orb Mechanics:
- Acknowledge the dual role of Blood Orbs as both obstacles and potential sources of Red Souls during certain attacks. Exercise caution around them and factor in their influence on movement and positioning.
- Utilize Stagger Opportunities:
- During instances of Lilith’s Stagger, capitalize on the chance to eliminate most Blood Orbs, excluding two chosen randomly. Strategic management of Stagger phases can alleviate the challenge posed by the presence of multiple Blood Orbs.
Blood Orb Creation (Quadruple):
In this iteration of the attack, Lilith executes a similar sequence, inflicting initial damage and forming Dancing Blood Orbs. However, instead of generating a solitary blood explosion adjacent to the player, four explosions occur at distinct corners of the arena, each giving rise to a Blood Orb.
This version is specifically employed at the initiation of the second phase when there are no existing Blood Orbs on the arena. Successfully surpassing the 85% health threshold before the spawn of these orbs enables the complete avoidance of this version, considerably alleviating the challenges posed by this phase.
Strategy:
- Efficient DPS:
- Swift and efficient damage output is crucial to surpass the 85% health threshold before Lilith initiates the creation of the quadruple blood explosions. Prioritize high DPS strategies to expedite this process.
- Skip the Quadruple Blood Orb Creation:
- The primary strategy revolves around achieving the goal of keeping Lilith’s health below 85% before the second phase commences. By doing so, players can entirely bypass the challenges associated with the quadruple blood explosions and the subsequent creation of Blood Orbs.
- Phase Transition Management:
- Coordinated team efforts, potent builds, and well-timed attacks contribute to the seamless transition between phases, preventing the activation of the quadruple Blood Orb Creation.
- Responsive and Adaptive Gameplay:
- Be prepared to adjust strategies based on Lilith’s health progression. Responsive gameplay that capitalizes on damage windows can significantly impact the avoidance of challenging attacks and phase-specific mechanics.
Melee Combo:
Lilith strikes the player 1-3 times with her tail.
Strategy:
Similar to first phase, the damage of this attack is so low that most builds can just facetank it and use it as an opportunity to deal damage.
Ground Slam:
During the execution of the Ground Slam, Lilith ascends into the air, drawing all nearby enemies towards her while imposing a 3-second slowing effect. Concurrently, she summons 4-6 Children of Lilith (depending on her remaining health). Following a brief 2-second delay, Lilith forcefully descends, inflicting lethal damage within a considerable radius.
Children of Lilith: Children of Lilith are classified as ghoul-type enemies. While individually non-threatening, they can transform into a source of Red Souls during specific attacks.
Strategy:
- Unstoppable Abilities:
- The pull and slow effect can be countered by employing Unstoppable abilities. Utilize skills or items that confer Unstoppable status to prevent the pull or remove the slow, allowing for a more favorable positioning before Lilith’s ground impact.
- Mobility Skills:
- Alternatively, leverage mobility skills to swiftly navigate out of the impending area of effect. Abilities such as Teleport or Dash can aid in evading the pull and repositioning strategically.
- Evade Charges:
- For builds equipped with Evade charges, judiciously use 2-3 charges to maneuver out of the affected zone, even under the influence of the slowing effect. Timely and effective Evade usage ensures a successful escape.
- Children of Lilith:
- Following the Ground Slam, prioritize eliminating the summoned Children of Lilith before resuming engagement with Lilith herself. This prevents potential complications arising from Red Souls generated by the Children during subsequent attacks.
- Responsive Movement:
- Stay alert and responsive during the Ground Slam animation, promptly implementing the chosen strategy to minimize the impact of the pull, slow, and subsequent ground impact. Adaptability is key to successfully navigating this phase of the encounter.
Shadow Clone:
During the Shadow Clone attack, Lilith initiates the sequence with a scream, forcibly pushing the player backward. Subsequently, she dashes towards the player, launching a three-pronged fork of shadows that inflicts substantial damage. This dash and fork combination is executed twice. Concurrently, a shadow clone of Lilith is generated in close proximity, mimicking the initial scream and two fork attacks after a brief 1-second delay. Following the completion of all four fork attacks, Lilith performs a ground slam near the player’s position, unleashing a massive shadow explosion with lethal consequences.
If Lilith is defeated or Staggered during this attack, the shadow clone continues its actions independently. However, a double KO (both Lilith and the player) results in no rewards due to Lilith’s extended death animation.
Strategy:
- Survivability:
- Tanks with substantial durability may withstand a single hit from the fork, but most builds are advised to evade the attack entirely. Prioritize survival by dodging the incoming forks.
- Dodging Technique:
- Execute a strategic evasion by moving away from Lilith and traversing in a large circular path. Each fork’s central prong consistently targets the player, ensuring evasion by lateral movement. Maintain a sufficient distance from Lilith to minimize the risk of colliding with side prongs during the maneuver.
- Adjusting Movement:
- Be mindful of the fork’s trajectory and adjust movement speed accordingly after successfully dodging the central prong. This prevents unintended contact with the side prongs.
- Final Dash:
- As Lilith raises her wings in preparation for the final part of the attack, swiftly transition to the opposite side of the arena. This strategic movement aims to avoid the ensuing shadow explosion and mitigate damage.
- Post-Attack Positioning:
- Following the completion of the Shadow Clone sequence, reassess your positioning and readiness for subsequent attacks. Remain vigilant, especially if Lilith is eliminated or Staggered during this phase, as the shadow clone continues its actions independently. Avoid a double KO scenario to secure rewards.
Adapting a dynamic and responsive approach is crucial to successfully navigating the complexities of the Shadow Clone attack.
Flight:
During the Flight maneuver, Lilith ascends, exiting the arena temporarily. After a brief interlude, she returns by traversing the entire battlefield while leaving a dense layer of cursed blood in her wake. Subsequently, after a 3-second delay, the blood ignites, inflicting lethal damage upon all enemies ensnared within it for the subsequent 2 seconds.
Strategy:
- Safe Zone Identification:
- Discern the safe zone located at the side of the arena where Lilith concludes her flight. Understanding the safe area’s position is crucial for effective evasion.
- Evasion Timing:
- Given the predictable nature of Lilith’s flight path, the primary challenge lies in avoiding the ignited cursed blood. Exercise caution and precise timing during the evasion process.
- Strategic Delay:
- Recognize that no damage is incurred until the cursed blood catches fire. Consequently, there is no immediate urgency to enter the safe zone. Utilize this knowledge to plan a strategic and well-timed entry into the designated safe area.
- Red Souls Consideration:
- Be mindful of concurrent Red Souls that may be in pursuit. Factor in their presence and trajectory to ensure a safe retreat into the designated zone.
- Avoiding Double KO:
- Maintain situational awareness and refrain from a double KO scenario, ensuring that your positioning aligns with the safe zone. Secure your survival to maximize the opportunity for progression in the encounter.
Adopting a calculated and patient approach during Lilith’s Flight is essential for successfully navigating this phase of the battle. Strategically timing your movements and accounting for additional threats contribute to a more effective evasion strategy.
Fight Progression and General Strategy
After player enters the arena, Lilith will drop down in the center, knocking the player back and creating a Circle of Doom that limits the size of the playable area. Stepping outside of the circle will deal extremely high damage over time to the player. The fight always starts with the fixed sequence of attacks:
- Blood Orb Creation
- Melee Combo x3
- Fissure
- Melee Combo
- Blood Orb Creation
After that she will select one of 5 attacks available to her:
- Melee Combo (no cooldown)
- Blood Orb Creation (15 seconds cooldown)
- Fissure (3 second cooldown)
- Wave of Spikes (20 seconds cooldown)
- Death From Above (20 seconds cooldown)
Lilith will always prioritize Blood Orb Creation if it’s not on cooldown. She will never do Melee Combo more than twice in a row. Otherwise the attacks are selected at random. During this stage of the fight, Lilith has long cooldowns on her high-damage attacks, giving you plenty of time to damage her and/or apply Stagger. Be ready to dodge Wave of Spikes or Death From Above when they come and you should be able to get through this stage without much trouble.
First Minion Phase
When Lilith’s health goes below 70%, she will finish her attack and summon 2 Enforcers. After that, she will continuously use Death From Above as long as at least one of the Enforcers is alive (but no less than 2 times). Each Enforcer will leave behind 2 Volatile Bloods and 6 Health Potion charges upon death.
Enforcers themselves deal almost no damage. Your primary focus should be on dodging the Death From Above spam while killing them. Stay at the edge of the arena and let the Enforcers come to you. Be mindful of their pull attack as it can move you into the one-shot attacks from Lilith. If your build is not great at cleaning up Volatile Blood, try to kill the minions one-by-one and kill the Blood in-between.
After you kill both minions, the camera returns to the normal zoom level and the second stage of the fight begins. Lilith’s abilities are upgraded:
- Blood Orb Creation’s cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds.
- Fissure now spawns 2 sets of fissures in criss-cross pattern. You can take damage twice if you stand on an intersection.
- Death From Above unlocks its second variation (opposing direction waves) and has its cooldown drastically reduced (to ~7 seconds).
Her attacks, in general, will follow this pattern:
- Death From Above
- another attack
- Death From Above
- other attacks for 10-15s
- repeat
Your best strategy is to focus on dodging during steps 1-3 and doing damage during step 4. Since her Blood Orb Creation now has reduced cooldown and still has highest priority, the attack in step 2 will often be Blood Orb Creation. It’s recommended to focus on dodging the incoming Death From Above first and killing Volatile Bloods second. Since Volatile Bloods take 12 seconds to detonate, you have plenty of time to kill it without the threat of a one-shot hanging over you.
Second Minion Phase
When Lilith’s health goes below 40%, she will finish her attack and summon 3 Oppressors. Same as the first minion phase, she will spam use Death From Above as long as her minions live.
This phase is not very different from the first one. Now there are 3 minions instead of 2 but they pose little threat and all the danger is coming from now further upgraded Death From Above. Our strategy stays the same: focus on dodging first and killing second.
After the minions die, the fight continues with more improvements to Lilith’s attacks:
- Death From Above unlocks 2 more variants
- Blood Orb Creation now creates 2 Volatile Bloods
During this stage Lilith will simply use Death From Above after every 2-3 attacks giving you little time to deal damage. Stay at the edge of the arena at all times to make dodging easier and slowly work through her HP bar.
When Lilith’s HP hits 0, the circle created at the start of the fight will disappear and 20 seconds later Echo of Lilith, Mother of Mankind will spawn in the center.
Lilith, Mother of Mankind
Lilith opens up the fight with a semi-fixed sequence of attacks:
- Blood Orb Creation (quadruple)
- Melee Combo x1-2
- Flight (top to bottom)
After that she behaves similar to her first phase. She casts Blood Orb Creation whenever its 15s cooldown is ready and otherwise randomly chooses between Melee Combo, Flight (~20s cooldown), and Shadow Clone (~20s cooldown).
During this part of the fight, the only threatening attack Lilith has is Shadow Clone, but with plenty of space to dodge it, you can always run in a big circle and be completely fine. Instead, you should focus at dealing damage and managing Blood Orbs. When the Blood Orb Creation is coming up, move next to (or even inside of) one of the existing Blood Orbs to make sure that their numbers don’t increase.
Staggering Lilith at this stage is also beneficial as it will destroy some of the Blood Orbs. Alternatively, you can just run to the top of the arena to spawn new Blood Orbs, as this section of the arena will soon be destroyed. This, however, makes the next phase transition very hard to survive, so only do this if you have an Invulnerability skill to help you.
First Platform Break
After Lilith’s HP falls below 85% she will finish her current attack and use Flight (bottom to top). After that, she performs a special move (Lilith can’t be Staggered during this time) where she uses her wings to destroy part of the arena. This section overlaps with the safe zone of previously used Flight and players standing on it take minor damage over time. 6 seconds later, the cut-off section crumbles down into the abyss, instantly killing all players standing on it (this bypasses the Elixir of Death Evasion).
While the platform is crumbling and for 2 second after, Blood Orbs shoot Red Souls at the player. 2 Red Souls are created each second, regardless of the number of currently active Blood Orbs. Red Souls move at ~133% Movement Speed and home in on their target, but their turn speed is very low, making it possible to sidestep them. Red Souls deal heavy damage on contact.
After the platform is broken, Lilith teleports to the center of arena and uses Ground Slam. Dodging all these attacks can be tricky but it becomes much easier if you can outrun the Red Souls. Then you just have to run in a large circle, timing it in such a way that you enter the crumbling platform right before the blood on the floor starts burning, and then leave it before it falls down, all without stopping. In this case, you only have to worry about the Red Souls coming straight at you and you Evade or simply take a step to the side to dodge them.
Be aware that the pull from the Ground Slam attack will happen while there’s still some Red Souls out, so you need to make sure that there are no Souls between you and arena’s center when it happens (or simply use Unstoppable ability to prevent the pull).
The second stage of the fight is no different from the first one, but now Lilith has one more ability to choose from: Ground Slam. The next stage begins when Lilith HP falls below 60% mark.
Second Platform Break
Lilith will once again open up with Flight (bottom left to top right) and then will start breaking off the corner of the platform. Unlike the first time, the safe zone of Flight doesn’t perfectly overlap with the crumbling platform and there’s some burning blood in the left corner of it.
There’s nothing different in the way you dodge this attack but it’s a bit more difficult because the safe zone and the arena itself is now smaller. After the platform is broken, Lilith will teleport to the center and use Ground Slam.
- Ground Slam summons one more Child
- Flight and Shadow Clone now cause the Blood Orbs and surviving Children of Lilith to shoot Red Souls at the player.
Third Platform Break
When Lilith falls below 30% HP, she will break the last corner of the platform, starting with Flight (bottom right to top left), then platform break with all the bells whistles and Red Souls. As she destroys the last platform, she will cast Shadow Clone.
After this, the fight continues but Lilith now has no cooldown on her Flight ability and will often use it twice in a row in opposite directions, forcing you to run from one end of the arena to the other and stand in a tiny safe zone while dodging all the Red Souls coming for you. On top of that, the arena itself is so small now that you barely have space to dodge her Ground Slam and Shadow Clone attacks.
Needless to say, staying alive and dealing damage is extremely difficult so it’s recommended to Stagger Lilith either right before or right after the last transition and then deal as much damage as possible to shorten this stage of the fight or even outright kill her.
Tips, Tricks, and Cheese
The formidable challenge presented by Lilith in Diablo 4 allows for strategic approaches, clever tactics, and potential skips that can significantly influence the course of the battle. Here are some tips, tricks, and cheese strategies to optimize your encounter with Lilith:
- Overwhelming Damage:
- If your build boasts exceptionally high damage output, you may have the opportunity to skip certain phases of the fight. For instance, dealing a substantial portion of Lilith’s HP in a single hit can bypass specific mechanics, such as skipping the summoning of Oppressors and eliminating the need to face Enforcers.
- Stagger Exploitation:
- Utilize the Stagger mechanic to your advantage. Staggering Lilith allows for uninterrupted damage for 5 seconds. Depending on your build’s damage capabilities, you can aim to stagger Lilith strategically to skip challenging phases. Adjust the stagger damage by incorporating different types of crowd control or increasing crowd control duration through gear and affixes.
- Threshold-Based Stagger:
- Tailor your stagger approach based on your build’s damage potential:
- 100-0 in one Stagger: Stagger as soon as possible for a swift victory.
- Almost 100-0 in one Stagger: Bring Lilith to around 75% before Staggering for an efficient outcome.
- Around 50% in one Stagger: Navigate through the initial minion phase, then Stagger at approximately 50% to skip the latter part of the fight.
- Tailor your stagger approach based on your build’s damage potential:
- Gear Swapping During the Fight:
- Adjust your gear during the battle to optimize damage output. For example, use crowd control-oriented gear to build up Stagger and then switch to offensive gear during the Stagger phase.
- Second Phase Strategies:
- Apply similar tricks to the second phase to potentially skip parts of the fight. Prevent Lilith from spawning Blood Orbs by dealing substantial damage or rapidly building Stagger. If successful, Lilith will proceed directly to the Flight – Platform Break – Ground Slam sequence without summoning Blood Orbs.
- Avoiding Blood Orb Creation:
- To prevent the creation of Blood Orbs, aim to:
- Deal more than 15% of Lilith’s HP before she starts casting Blood Orb Creation.
- Stagger her before the completion of Blood Orb Creation and subsequently bring her HP below 85%.
- To prevent the creation of Blood Orbs, aim to:
- Trivializing Sequences:
- By eliminating Blood Orbs, certain sequences become considerably less threatening. Use this opportunity to damage Lilith during these phases.
- Arena Destruction Protection:
- Recognize that Lilith’s HP cannot drop below 1% during the arena destruction phase. This protection persists for approximately 1 second after she completes the third platform break and teleports to the center of the arena.
By employing these tips and strategic considerations, you can enhance your chances of success against Uber Bosses such as Lilith and potentially discover alternative pathways through the encounter. Experimentation with different builds and tactics will further empower your approach to this challenging boss battle.
