WoW Cataclysm Classic: Release Date, Beta & Updates
INTRODUCTION
Hello again, and welcome to our newest WoW Cataclysm Classic blog post. In this post we will focus on what’s new and what we know regarding Cata Classic’s release, some changes and updates that we’re aware of so far. In our previous WoW Cataclysm Announced post we’ve covered most of the things that were available after Blizzcon 2023. However there were some timeline changes in the recent month which influenced the Cataclysm Beta as well as potentially it’s actual release.
Due to Season of Discovery swooping in with it’s Phase 2 and taking a lot of the Player base away, and WotLK drawing it’s last breath after The Ruby Sanctum Raid and Icecrown Citadel was completed, many Players are now wondering what’s next and how long do we have to wait. Considering SoD Phase 3’s Release Date is nearing as well we have to wonder what’s going to happen with the actual WoW Classic and is it going to be a shadow or a major thing in the coming months.
Without further ado, lets cover what’s going on and what info we have so far, and the best way to do that is to put up the recently updated WoW Classic RoadMap.
WoW Cataclysm Classic RoadMap Changes for 2024
Post Blizzcon 2023, we’ve received a Roadmap for both Classic and Retail versions of WoW. However, the new Classic Roadmap already showed some differentiation compared to what we first saw. What does this mean? Are the timelines going to be moved for everything or is this just an ‘issue’ that happened for Cataclysm Classic? – We are yet to see.
Cata Classic BETA
What we do know for now is that the BETA for Cataclysm Classic was supposed to at mid-late February, along with Phase 2 of Season of Discovery and the Solo-Self-Found Mode of Hardcore WoW. However, this didn’t happen and the Cataclysm BETA was moved by roughly by 2 weeks from what initially was intended.
Regardless, the BETA is LIVE NOW and is up for sign-ups, so if you wish to go and test our Cataclysm as it is now, you can Request Beta Access. Just make sure that you’re logged in your Battle.net account.
Whether the BETA release will influence any delays on the actual Cataclysm Classic release, we are yet to see.
Cataclysm Classic Official Release Date
For now there is no exact Cata Classic Release Date. However if we look at the above image which reflects on the current WoW Classic Roadmap after the Updates. There haven’t been many changes in terms of their plans for the Cata Release.
What we know as a fact and what Blizzard has been saying is that Cataclysm Classic will definitely Release on the 31st of August, or before that.
Even though this gives a ‘wide’ range of possibilities for a launch, at least we know what their final deadline is. However if we look at the Roadmap, then it’s more realistic that it should go LIVE in June or July of 2024. Their previous statements said that they will work towards having the Cataclysm launch in the first half of 2024.
When we have an actual release date, we will update this post.
Cataclysm Classic Official Release Date – CONFIRMED
Cataclysm Classic has a set date! It is set to release on the 20th of May 2024! GET READY!
Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch Release Date – CONFIRMED
The Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch will hit as early as the 30th of April 2024, and will last until the Official Release of Cataclysm Classic!
Changes that are being implemented for Cataclysm Classic
We’ve already covered a lot of these changes in our previous post, but what we want to mention here is that there will definitely be many changes coming to every aspect of the game.
New Races
Goblins and Worgen are definitely the ones that are coming with Cata. As it originally was.
New Level Cap
Naturally, with every Expansion comes the Level Cap increase. In this case the Level will raise from 80 to 85.
Note: Blizzard has said that the Leveling experience will be much smoother and accelerated, so we can definitely expect the level to be faster than what it was originally.
The Transmogrification System
Cataclysm Classic will be the expansion which will give you the ability to change your Characters appearance, so waste no time and gather all the Items that you want to use from the old Raids and Dungeons!
New Dungeons and Raids
Naturally New Dungeons and Raids will be implemented with the coming WoW Classic expansion.
Note: Aside from the obvious, Blizzard said that we will have a new complex and challenging Dungeon difficulty system which will help us earn powerful rewards. This is yet to be discussed, but it will be available after the Cataclysm Classic launch.
New Zones
After Deathwing reshaped whole of Azeroth, we’ll be seeing some newly shaped Zones as well as 7 New Zones and 3 New Starting Zones for the newly added Races.
Dungeon Finder
The LFG system will be further upgraded and updated to match more what we have on Retail. This will help Players find teammates for any in-game activity.
Account-Wide Updates
Once Cataclysm Classic launches, we will have the ability to share all Transmogrifications, Mounts and Pets across all of our Characters on a Battle.net account. This is similar to what we have on Retail already.
Auction House
The Auction House will be receiving an update as well. It will be much easier to filter, search and find items that you need or want to post on the AH.
Cataclysm Classic Expansion Packs
Last but not least, we have the expansion packs. Even though WoW Classic is available with a WoW Subscription. Blizzard always finds ways to profit out of these things, so naturally we have two different packs for Cataclysm Classic.
WoW Cataclysm Classic Early Access
There was talk about having ‘Early Access’ if you purchase any of these two packs. However, it is yet to be confirmed to Cataclysm Classic – we doubt it, but it’s possible. They are giving away 3 days early access for the Epic Edition of The War Within – the new Retail expansion.
Blazing Heroic Pack
This bundle has the price of 29.99$ at the time of the check. It includes:

- Runebound Firelord Flying Mount for Retail World of Warcraft Characters
- Lil’ Wrathion Pet
- Lil’ Wrathion Pet for Retail World of Warcraft Characters
